Welcome, Agrave13!
editWelcome to Wikipedia, Agrave13! I'm Ozzie10aaaa, and I've been assigned as your mentor. About half of new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor chosen randomly from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Over time, you will figure out what you enjoy doing the most on Wikipedia.
You might have noticed that you have access to a tutorial and suggested edits. It's recommended that you take advantage of this, as it'll make learning how to edit Wikipedia easier.
If you need assistance with anything or have any questions, click on the "Get editing help" button on the bottom right corner of your screen. This will open up a module with links to help pages and a place to ask me questions. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or go here to get help from the wider community.
Again, welcome to Wikipedia!
Suchitra Mattai moved to draftspace
editThanks for your contributions to Suchitra Mattai. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it was moved incorrectly (main article space is not the preferred location for pending AfC drafts). I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:39, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for the help! I’m relatively new here, so didn’t fully understand the process for new articles. This article is, I believe, highly sourced (20+ citations for each claim, with from sources ranging from the NYTimes to artnet.com), so I think it is ready for review. Can you please confirm that it is in queue awaiting review? Thanks again! Agrave13 (talk) 11:47, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
Question
editHi Agrave13, to create articles please see [1], now in terms of 'move' as indicated by the editor above they must first go thru a draft (or AFC process) to see if it is notable [2], once reviewed and approved (if notable) it goes to mainspace, feel free to ask questions, Ozzie--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 12:56, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, Ozzie! How can I make sure the article is currently in queue for review? I guess I just don’t understand how to submit it for review. Thanks so much! Agrave13 (talk) 21:09, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Ozzie, A reviewer requested that citations be added for each item in the section Notable Collections. I have added those references, and am wondering if the article now goes back into the draft queue, or if it will be reviewed sooner. (In terms of notability, that has been established through dozens of reliable citations, each involving a review of the artist's work in top art journals, official museum websites and scholarly publications.) Thanks so much for your advice and information regrading this process. Agrave13 (talk) 16:19, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

editHello Agrave13! Your additions to Suchitra Mattai have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's elegibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. A few of the sections about exhibitions were removed due to this issue.
