Hello, Ahdavis07, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Notes

edit

Hi! I have some notes for you and the group. So far this looks good, so a lot of this will be aimed at fine-tuning the draft.

  • Make sure that anything that seems like an interpretation or opinion is attributed to the person who stated it in the source.
  • The reception needs to be expanded and clarified a bit more. In specific, the general statements could be made more specific to the story in question. This is something that it looks like you're still working on, so just make sure that the general reception narrows to the specific reception for "The Quadroons".
  • Be very careful with sourcing. Goodreads is not seen as a reliable source on Wikipedia because it's really easy for someone to gain the ability to edit and add listings for books. WorldCat is good for this, or you can use a basic citation - there doesn't necessarily have to be a link. So for example, for the Kindle version you could use the following citation:
Child, Lydia Maria. (2015) "The Quadroons". Pious Pagan Publishing. Kindle file.

Other than that, just make sure that you're careful to avoid original research, as always. I hope this helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:34, 15 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
