AfD nomination of White to Play
An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is White to Play. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/White to Play. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:16, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Trapper_John_McIntyre.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Trapper_John_McIntyre.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? — Fourthords | =/\= | 04:38, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Trapper John McIntyre.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Trapper John McIntyre.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:13, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

The edit I did on the Nevermind page, where I said it's one of the greatest rock albums of all time, I don't need a source because it says that in the article. Rolling Stone listed it as #17 as one of the 200 best albums of all time list. That specific source is already in the article, so I don't think it is needed. 108.49.138.50 (talk) 13:23, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi Ahecht, I appreciate your cleanups of Valwood School but I take issue with its characterization as a 'former segregation academy'. It still is though there are black students attending. By definition a Segregation Academy is a school established to avoid integration which Valwood is. It is still predominantly white and academics is a thin veil to over the real reason people send their kids there.
Also I think it is important to note in its history that it was only open to white students initially. This is a historical fact and must be included for completeness and to understand the nature of this type of school. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.69.27.16 (talk) 11:39, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
Hello Ahecht
I am searching for a table that lists every single 98884 unicode.
Wikipedia lists this site as displaying them for FREE via the following text:
decodeunicode.org Unicode-Wiki with all 98,884 graphical Unicode 5.0 characters as GIF images in three sizes. Including full text search. English/German
This site has since been changed and what it says is there - is no longer there.
This is now a PAY website where they are selling a book requiring purchase listing the unicodes. I am still searching for a public-domain list Online of all the 98884 unicodes and I think the link HERE:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode_symbols
Should not include their URL until it is a true statement. They need to either state they no longer have it, remove their link from Wikipedia as there is no room for false advertising, or make it a true statement by returning the full unicode listing.

- First, the removed information had no sources. Wikipedia has a policy on unsourced information at WP:UNSOURCED. A warning message was placed on that article in August 2012, almost a year ago, an in that time no sources were provided for shows other than the ones in the current shorter version of the article. Per the policy of WP:UNSOURCED, the responsibility for providing reliable sources is with whoever adds or restores the material, so without a reliable source I cannot add any of the old information back in. avg wage page
I need your help. On the avg wage page, they are insisting on using numbers from a BBC article which quotes figures from ILO. Here are some facts and issues. The BBC article is a few years old, and the ILO data no longer exists on the ILO website, raising a presumption that it has been deleted and retracted. In addition, for most countries listed, we already have TWO other sources which actually match eachother quote nicely, just that one is monthly and the other annual. The ILO data for some countries directly contradicts the two other sources, and in fact when I did a simple calculation on the talk page using the same meth of the ILO, the figures were radically different, but similar to the other two sources. This lends further credence as to why ILO deleted the figures. What is the policy for a page quoting numbers which has later been deleted by that source, and for which there is redundancy in that list to begin with? I have proposed not using the ILO list due to these issues, or perhaps using it for countries not mentioned in other two lists. What do you think? Lneal001 (talk) 16:09, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- The BBC article stated that the ILO usually doesn't go public with their information. The fact that it's not on the ILO website doesn't mean anything (see WP:OFFLINE). Without a reliable source stating that the ILO has retracted the information, drawing such a conclusion from the data not being on their website is original research. --Ahecht (TALK

- Of you read the article, it says "publically available until now." So where is it? Actually, the ILO has publically available statistics on its database called Laborsta. They even have a section called Earnings. So the BBC article is simply wrong on that, as the ILO have a whole website dedicated to such stats. If the data were in existence today it would almost certainly be there. In any case, we are not running into redundancy. We already have two lists showing all developed and some developing countries, which are all very transparent and where one can access it to the source. Both sources match eachother almost perfectly. The ILO data seems to be understating wages by a significant degree for some countries like the US. The US is more than $1300 per month understated vs the other two sources. Their methodology says they divided the total wage bill by earners. That's exactly what the two other sources did and the figure is well above. Other countries are way off as well. Again, I am applying the methodology mentioned in the BBC article, which the other two sources also used. It should be deleted, or limited to countries not mentioned in OECD/UNECE. Second, the expression "lousy artist" refers to his professional qualities, not his personal traits, so again, it is not a personal attack, nor an ad hominem. Third, artist's poor quality casts a reasonable doubt as to his notability, hence direct relevance to AfD. If you disagree and can prove that it is a good artist using independent sources, then the article will survive, right? - Bad art can be notable, Staszek Lem. I'm not necessarily saying that this artist is notable (and I don't believe he is), but notability does not necessarily depend on quality. --Ahecht (TALK

Hey
I found out at Orlando Theme Park News that the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will open on May 2nd.

- @75.37.24.45: Thanks. I looked at that source, and unless there is an article other than this one, I'm not seeing a statement that the ride will officially open that day. There is a media event to allow "select media" to "learn more" about the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, but the advisory doesn't say if/when the ride will actually open to the public. I'll add info on the press event to the article, but leave the opening date as it is for now. The Disney Parks Blog was still saying "later this spring" as of yesterday. --Ahecht (TALK

Accidental Bowel Leakage
Is there anyway we can chat? I need advice on how to promote ABL instead of FI.
Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jray2281 (talk • contribs) 23:31, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- @Jray2281: All but one of your sources in your article referred to it as Fecal Incontinence, not Accidental Bowel Leakage. You would need reliable sources that establish that Accidental Bowel Leakage is notable separately from Fecal Incontinence. Otherwise, the ABL info could be a subsection of the FI article. Sources like this one seem to indicate that ABL is just a marketing term for FI. --Ahecht (TALK

Speedy deletion nomination of Ryanair Pilot Group (RPG)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Ryanair Pilot Group (RPG), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 15:08, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- As I said of the talk page, I am not the original author of this article (I found it while browsing New Pages Feed), but I did restore it from a speedy deletion (without prejudice against an AfD nomination) because I didn't feel that it was unambiguously promotional enough for a WP:G11 speedy delete. As G11 states, "If a subject is notable and the content can be replaced with text that complies with neutral point of view, this is preferable to deletion." It seemed like there was enough coverage to at least make this to AfD on notability grounds rather than a speedy delete. I removed the one section that was a copyvio and added the sources that I could find on a quick google search, and I invite the original authors to expand the article once they create a username that meets wikipedia policies if they can avoid WP:POV and neutrality issues. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 15:18, 29 April 2014 (UTC)- Hello, Ahect. I'm reviewing the article due its listing at WP:SCV. Unfortunately, in recreating an article that was deleted without attribution, you are in violation of the copyright of the original contributor. :/ Content on Wikipedia is not public domain, although it is very liberally licensed. The license does require attribution. If you restore content to Wikipedia that has been deleted, you must either restore the history of the article or otherwise attribute by the contributor name. Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia explains a little more about the issue. I'll repair the attribution here, but please be sure to attribute fully if restoring or moving content in future. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:58, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
Genre: New Depth
hi,
so I got your point but otherwise I don't know what to do. new depth is a music genre. any kind of music genre is on Wikipedia so why not new depth? if I post something in a forum and tell everyone of new depth and mark it as a quote in wiki will it be enough?
im really sorry for asking again, I just don't get why there must be a proof, that this exists. there are a lot of genres, just known by a some people, but enough for having an article on wiki.
please tell me what to do, to get new depth in wiki. and: is it completely deleted, cause it took me a hour to translate everything. can I find the deleted version somewhere?
thanks, paul — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paulheine (talk • contribs) 08:16, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- @Paulheine: I understand your frustration. One of the fundamental standards of Wikipedia is that it is a collection of only verifiable information. If there aren't reliable sources (and a blog or message board post isn't a reliable source) that establish the notability of the subject, it may simply be too soon for it to have a Wikipedia article. Per WP:NOT#OR, a subject is not notable enough to be an article until multiple, independent, and reliable secondary sources report on it. You can request to have the deleted article emailed to you or moved to your user space at WP:UNDELETE. Once there are reliable sources to back up the article, you are more than welcome to resubmit it. --Ahecht (TALK

Hi I have been trying to upload some pictures on to my user page but it is not letting me. I have tried everything and the pictures are of my own creation so can you help me out in that. Bronson Naylor 22:16, 16 May 2014 (UTC) comment added by Bronson Naylor (talk • contribs)
- @Brabnaba: Pictures aren't uploaded to specific pages, they get uploaded either to wikipedia at WP:File Upload Wizard or to wikimedia commons at Commons:Special:UploadWizard. Note that pictures should only be uploaded to either of those two places if they could be realistically useful for an educational purpose (this generally means no snapshots of yourself or friends and family). Once the file has been uploaded to one of those places, you can add it to your user page by following the instructions at WP:PIC. If you have any more questions, you can feel free to ask at WP:HELPDESK or Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions. --Ahecht (TALK

Greetings, I just wanted to know that My Pizza place exists physically and on internet there's no intention to advertise Fresco's Pizza Page on Wikipedia. - @Kaxy2504: Welcome to Wikipedia. Despite being an encyclopedia that anyone can edit, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. All articles on Wikipedia must be about subjects that are notable, which means that they have received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article. Unfortunately, most small businesses do not meet these general notability guidelines and should not have their own articles on Wikipedia. For more information, I would recommend reading Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations, or if you have more questions about getting started editing on Wikipedia you can visit the Teahouse. --Ahecht (TALK

Sir, for what the page is removed. Why sir? Sir the article can be maintained by adding the page in Theo's article as (Error: no page names specified (help).) on murder section. Tell me sir, Mahatma Gandhi too assassinated but article has its page of Mahatma's assassination. Merged that page also to only Mahatma Gandhi. Sir Gogh's assassination was main issue try to understand please i beg you 42.104.2.216 (talk) 18:26, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- @42.104.2.216: The initial move was reverted because it was not properly attributed and therefore a copyright violation. Once a move is reverted, it should be discussed on the article's talk page at Talk:Theo van Gogh (film director) and a consensus for a move should be reached before recreating the move. You can click here to create a new topic on the talk page to discuss splitting the murder section to its own article. If a consensus has been formed to proceed with the move then the new article can be created. --Ahecht (TALK

Article: Network-based rating models in sports
Dear Sir,
Thanks so much for your reviewing my page. I found some of your observations useful since I am a new user of Wiki. However some parts of your comments regarding the possibility of removal of the page are not clear for me yet and I would kindly ask you to explain if you have time.
Your comments were: "This seems more like a literature review than a proper article. The notability of this subject isn't established by third-party sources, and none of these rating models are used by leagues or the media. The only references are the three research papers that the article is summarizing plus a fourth research paper cited in one of the three."
My comments are: 1. indeed these rating models are not used yet actually in leagues or media however one must acknowledge their existence and that was the role of the mini article. In the field of network science however there is specific interest for this kind of rating models. 2.I added some more references and also tried to improve the article by adding the lead section it missed. Does it have chances for reconsideration?
Thank you so much for your time.
Best regards Ottavia00 (talk) 22:37, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Article 'Marie Robbins' Deletion
You have deleted the article for Marie Robbins. Why? Its perfectly legitimate for a candidate in an election to be on wikipedia, is it not? There is plenty of precedence for this... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brother.seeker (talk • contribs) 15:38, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
- @Brother.seeker: Although I nominated it for deletion, the article was deleted by NawlinWiki and Anthony Bradbury. Just being a candidate doesn't make someone notable, they must still meet the standards laid out in WP:N and WP:GNG. Generally, candidates for local elections are not notable enough for inclusion on wikipedia unless they get significant coverage by news media from outside the area the person represents or governs or there is other independent coverage sufficient to meet WP:N on their own (for example, mainstream candidates for the head of a national government or candidates that are already notable separately from the election like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Clay Aiken). See WP:POLITICIAN and WP:POLOUTCOMES. --Ahecht (TALK

You recently deleted the article for Marie Robbins and I would like to understand why. Reading through wikipedia's guidelines it seems to be perfectly normal for electoral candidates to have an article. There is lots of precedence and existing articles about candidates so I would be interested to understand why this article in particular has been singled out and what needs to be changed for it to remain.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Brother.seeker (talk • contribs) 15:51, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Now that I look at Latte I see that 'bootleg latte' is mentioned twice. Maybe you want to look at the target article and see if you want to combine those sections.
