Contested deletion

This page should not be speedily deleted because... --

I don't see why this page has been nominated for speedy deletion. It is exactly what it says on the tin: a User page introducing my work, interests and other matters, all in the spirit of the Wiki.

I have also reviewed the user space guidelines carefully prior to editing the page, and now there's been this warning attached to the page. If there are specific objections to the page, then please recite them, otherwise the wording in the attached warning is too general, open to interpretation and gives rise to unfairness.

In as far as U5 is concerned, there is no intention of using the page as a web host whatsoever. Links placed in-line are in the spirit of expanding on subjects of interest, no more and no less. If this is the source of objection, then please clarify where I have gone astray -- Ahmedalalousi (talk)

Hi, I'm the person who nominated your page. It looks to me like resume type content (see WP:NOTRESUME), particularly with the links to your workplaces. See also WP:UP#PROMO. I'm sure you can edit it to avoid those kind of issues and in so doing remove the tag. WP:UPYES gives the example that a five page resume is unacceptable whereas a three sentence summary of the field you work in would be fine. Obviously there is range in between that and not everyone will agree on what is self-promotion and what is not, but the general guideline is that this is your wikipedia user page and so is primarily meant to be about your role as a wikipedia editor rather than used as a personal webpage. Hi Melcous Thanks for your reply and comment. I had considered your comments as well as the guidance and citations. I'm not really about creating a resumé here, nor am I in need of one on the pages of WikiPedia - this is actually a very brief and partial extract meant to put a face to a name, as it were. I am a long-standing contributor, though for some reason my contributions disappeared following a request for renaming my old handle, which is a different issue. I would suggest that the personal page here is, as you pointed out, falls somewhere between the "three sentence summary" and a "five page resumé" - there are obviously sections here that would never appear in a standard resumé, with references to WikiPedia pages which are subject matter interests. I hope this sheds some light on your feedback and look forward to the nomination for speedy deletion to be removed. All the best Ahmedalalousi (talk) 22:37, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
