A review at WP:Teahouse

edit

@AlbaniaeDominus came across some of your recent contributions. While most seem to be citing WP policies, some others seem strange too. I have sought inputs and guidance @ WP:Teahouse#Contribution review help request. WP:Teahouse is place meant for helpful guidance to beginners and hope you will take benefit of inputs of other experienced users there. Bookku (talk) 02:36, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Please remain aware that topic areas India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, too are designated as contentious as per WP:CTOP and Template:Contentious topics/alert/first. Bookku (talk) 14:11, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Edits of concern with friendly advice

edit

Since there are multiple edits of concern hence opening separate discussion at respective article talk page would be time consuming, where differences persist can be taken to article talk page for further WP:DR if needed. As of now in this message my focus is on providing friendly advice.

1) dif:1156167037 The edit may be of WP:BLP concern but, I advice, at least mention according to whom to avoid WP:WIKIVOICE and see that it is backed up by WP:RS.
2) dif 1156348353 Contention in edit summary that ".. he was a strong ally of the Communist China;.." hence Zia was not likely to anti-communist would need to be backed up by WP:RS. Including USA many countries have good relations with China on some or other front that does not mean they would not follow anti-communist policies in internal politics.
3) Renaming of Pakistani audio leaks controversy and content expansion seems to unbalance originally intended scope of the article and may have WP:BLP concerns for edits like dif 1157336100 / 1157336226 . It would be better if you can seek community inputs about the added content at WP:BLPN.
4) Change of article title from Human rights abuses in Pakistan under Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq to Presidency of Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq seem to change the scope of the article substantially.

As said earlier as of now focus is just on friendly discussion and friendly advice. Though I have pointed out some difficult areas, still I appreciate number of good edits and contribution from you. Wish you happy editing. Bookku (talk) 15:05, 4 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • @Bookku:, I have checked my previous edits and I have realized they might have been wrong. Sorry for that. I will be looking forward to make edits in line with Wiki policies. I do not know too much, I am learning. Thanks for the advice! AlbaniaeDominus 6:34, 6 June 2023 (UTC)

June 2023

edit

  Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Al-Qadir Trust case. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Blocked as a sockpuppet

edit
Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively as a sockpuppet of User:Dolyn per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dolyn. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
