Proposed deletion of Appeal to Reason Tour

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Appeal to Reason Tour, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. You (Bad Religion song)

edit

Please be aware that this article fails WP:MUSIC and thus has been redirected to the appropriate album article. Do not revert this unless you can satisfy the requirements at WP:MUSIC. Regards Nouse4aname (talk) 10:25, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Read this section carefully, which states

“Most songs do not merit an article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for a prominent album or for the artist who wrote or prominently performed the song. Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been performed independently by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable. A separate article is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album.”

Thus, as this song was not released as a single, did not chart and has not been performed by numerous notable artists, it fails the notability guidelines and so does not merit an article. As the song fails the notability guidelines, that is a perfectly valid reason for redirecting it. Nouse4aname (talk) 16:00, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Helmet discography

edit

Alex, I saw the article you created for the Helmet discography, and it is excellent. Thanks for creating it. I was thinking, though: the big chunk of text at the beginning of the article I don't think should be there. It's largely duplicative of the main Helmet article. Don't get me wrong; it's very well written and I think it would be great for your added information to be incorporated into the main article. Leave the discography article for your nice tables. Just my two cents.—Lazytiger (Talk | contribs) 03:11, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Are you interested in becoming an admin? Please see my message at WT:RFA. --Dweller (talk) 14:02, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please let me know about any WP:ER you've had, skeletons in your cupboard (!), involvement in admin areas etc - see my suggestions at WT:RFA. I'll pick this up next week. Cheers! --Dweller (talk) 14:56, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Qs from Dweller

edit

Were you banned or blocked? There's an important difference, you know.

Can you post a diff to the main discussion when it was decided to block/ban you? --Dweller (talk) 20:30, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

A block as recent as June of this year is pretty bad news. If your block log had stopped in 2006, there might have been a chance, but a block a couple of months back makes RfA close to unthinkable... just one option... is there a reasonable chance the most recent blocking admin will say they made a mistake? --Dweller (talk) 21:51, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, but having discussed the case with the blocking admin and having reviewed your edit history from June this year, you are not a good candidate to become an admin. Edit warring and incivility are not the hallmarks of a good admin. --Dweller (talk) 20:25, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Circle Jerks userbox

edit

Hey man—Listen, I just tweaked your Circle Jerks userbox, by removing "The" as part of the band name (that is, I lowercased it, put it on the first line, and removed the superscripted "T" from the logo on the left), because it's not actually part of their name—as evidenced, for example, by the band article title. I should have asked you first, but I tend not to get back to these things if I don't do them when I think about them. If you want to revert it, I'll understand, but I think I've improved it (or I wouldn't have done it!). Best wishes, AdRock (talk) 04:24, 10 October 2008 (UTC) (P.S. I also added it to my page.)Reply

Re: Bad Religion

edit

You seem confused over the definition of vandalism. All my edits are to the article is a result of trying to improve the article, and therby cannot be considered vandalism. I have justifed my edits by pointing out that imdb is not a reliable source, as it is user edited and has a history of misinformation. You might have heard of the time that some be up Uwe Bolls named as the director for the halo movie as a joke. Secondly, Bad religion has been noted as a huge influence to the pop-punk movement, and the article should reflect this. Thridly, the genre flied has become clustred and various sources have been misrepresented, and due to the fact that it is no longer visable, keeping it around seems to draw unessary problem to the article. 66.222.228.251 (talk) 23:47, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm not trying to vandalise either, I'm just trying to improve articles and standardize things a bit. Bad Religion album articles after Stranger Than Fiction didn't have the same format as the earlier ones. I'm just trying to make sure they all look similar.

Why the hell is not OK for the post-Stranger Than Fiction/Gray Race articles to say "All songs by Greg Graffin unless noted." and not OK for any articles before?? If you look at the writing credits, you'll see Greg Graffin wrote most songs, and I've given credit to Brett Gurewitz where it applies, so what's the problem? I am not a liar, nor a vandalizer, I'm just trying to improve things. At least let me change the tables to regular track listings. 68.37.78.9 (talk) 21:57, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries such asthis are not appropriate, as you well know and have been told about above. Please keep yourself calm and keep your edit summaries friendly. Nouse4aname (talk) 09:33, 21 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also, please refrain from accusing other editors of vandalism, such as here, here, here, here here and here, when in fact it is a content dispute and not vandalism. Nouse4aname (talk) 09:51, 21 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disconnected

edit

Look. Read the link, WP:MUSIC#Songs. The song is not notable. What’s more, the article is unreferenced. Don’t start an edit war over this. Nouse4aname (talk) 16:52, 25 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

You just don't get it do you. It doesn't pass the required notability guidelines. Oh, and I suggest you lay off the empty threats. Nouse4aname (talk) 17:04, 25 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also check out WP:RS. The band's own website does not count as an independent reliable source. Nouse4aname (talk) 17:07, 25 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Message from WikiProject Punk music

edit

Hello!

You may be interested to know that WikiProject Punk music has recently undergone a major revitalization. Please visit the project page to see our new look and check out some of our helpful new features, such as the Assessment Department and the Collaboration of the week. There are also a number of tasks on our Things to do page that you may be interested in helping with.

We are currently holding a roll call to help gauge how many active project members we have. Please visit the project's talk page and add your signature to the roll sheet to express your continued interest in the project. Also, if you have not already done so, please take a minute to add your name to the Participants page along with a brief summary of your punk-related interests, so that other project members will be better able to collaborate with you. If you do not add your signature to the roll sheet by November 30, 2008 your name will be moved to our list of inactive members. We may also take the liberty of removing the project userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:WikiProject Punk music members. Of course you are free to rejoin the project and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active in the project again.

Thank you and we hope you will continue to support WikiProject Punk music!

Speedy deletion of "Face to Face discography"

edit

A page you created, Face to Face discography, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a band or other musical group, but it does not indicate how they are important or significant, and thus why they should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for musical groups in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. --Sidonuke (talk :: contribs) 05:59, 29 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
