Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, AlexandraTaylor1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 09:53, 24 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

AlexandraTaylor1, it seems rather likely that you have some financial relationship to Ellacotts Accountants. If so, to comply with our Terms of Use, you must make a paid-editor disclosure. Specifically, if you are receiving, or expect to receive, monetary or other benefits or considerations from editing Wikipedia as a representative of an organisation (as an employee or contractor; as an employee or contractor of a firm hired by that organisation for public-relations purposes; as owner, officer or other stakeholder; or by having some other form of close financial relationship with a topic you wish to write about), then you must disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post this mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:AlexandraTaylor1. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=AlexandraTaylor1|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please say so, here on this page. Otherwise, please make the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you have answered this message. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:37, 27 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
