@TheMagnificentist: I'm not a participant of the WikiProject, I'm just listed as having an open RM on an article. Script gone wrong? ;) Anyway, I don't have any strong opinion on that. nyuszika7h (talk) 16:35, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Dealing with non-main characters in animated series

I'm working on a character list in my sandbox for The Loud House, which may or may not be needed depending on the end result here, and I have a feeling many of the non-main characters are simply not notable and shouldn't be listed—for example, seriously, the pets are guests? Is there a press release somewhere for the note-worthy guest appearances? As you've said, unlike live-action series, with animated series, there is no clear distinction between guest/special guest stars and co-stars and there are just additional voices. It also complicates things when we have Supporting and Recurring sections, and those I'll likely just end up combining into one section under the standard title of Recurring. I also have a feeling the names for the non-main characters aren't per credits. Also inviting MPFitz1968. Amaury (talk | contribs) 02:35, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

Just a poke in case you missed this. Amaury (talk | contribs) 19:09, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
@Amaury: I don't watch/follow that series (at least currently), but yeah, for animated series, we can't just list everyone listed in the end credits. Notable characters mentioned in press releases or characters appearing in multiple episodes can be listed as "Recurring" / included in episode list guest star listings (if any). Here are a couple of press releases, but based on a quick look, I can't see a mention of non-main voice cast. nyuszika7h (talk) 09:36, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
And now I apologize for the delayed reply. :x So the only characters that should be listed are the main ones? That would thereby make a character list article unnecessary. Amaury (talk | contribs) 01:06, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
Well, I don't know in the specific case of the show, but any significant recurring guest cast can be listed using the same rules as live action shows (co-stars most likely won't get enough appearances to satisfy that anyway). nyuszika7h (talk) 08:50, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
I've got 41 recordings of the series right now on my DVR. That's not everything (yet), but should hopefully be enough. Maybe. Why are animated series so complicated? Why can't they be like live-action series in that regard? Amaury (talk | contribs) 14:37, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
I'll try to download the episodes and make a recurring cast list like for School of Rock. That might be faster. nyuszika7h (talk) 09:47, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
I have all the episodes now except for the latest four ("Out of the Picture/Room with a Feud", "The Loudest Mission: Relative Chaos", "Back out There/Spell It Out", and "Potty Mouth/"L" is for Love"), going by the iTunes order. I'll see if I can get the rest. Something I noticed is that there are precise character names listed in the end credits, and credits per segment rather than per episode, so I'm going to count how many segments episodes characters are in here. nyuszika7h (talk) 17:54, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
Update: I have all episodes that have aired so far now, but I'll count per episode rather than segment, as that's simpler, and sufficient for determining recurring status. I'll do the counting tomorrow. Now I'm going to sleep. nyuszika7h (talk) 23:11, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Logos

So I've uploaded some logos for series as you know and you were kind enough to re-size them if needed. All the logos I've uploaded are:

Ones crossed out you've already looked at. The ones that are not are ones I uploaded after those when you sort of went AWOL. Would you be so kind as to take a look at those when you have the chance and re-size them if needed? Thanks. Amaury (talk | contribs) 17:50, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

@Amaury: These look fine to me, the resolution is low enough. nyuszika7h (talk) 13:21, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Image request

Nyuszika7H, as you know a lot more about image (use) on Wiki than I do, I thought I'd run this by you.

Right now this image is used in the infobox at The Bold Type. However, I think something like the image at the top of this webpage (which is what Freeform uses in its own promos for the show – see also this) would be a lot better choice to use as the image. Any chance you can work your magic, and get that article a better image? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide here!... --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:20, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

@IJBall:   Done – Thankfully the actual image didn't have the "binge the first 5 episodes" text, so my job was fairly easy. nyuszika7h (talk) 17:02, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

Re: Forever in Your Mind

I think I noticed this news last month, and then forgot about it, but as one of the main editors at Forever in Your Mind I thought you should be made aware of this. Pinging Amaury for the same reason... I dunno if this news needs to be added to the article, but I suspect it should probably be squeezed in there somehow. --IJBall (contribstalk) 07:05, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

@IJBall: Yeah, if Emery Kelly is not notable enough for his own article, it's probably worth mentioning that in the "Television" section of FIYM's article. nyuszika7h (talk) 09:41, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

The Loud House

When you end up getting around to seeing which non-main characters are actually relevant, are you planning on editing the actual article or my sandbox version where everything's been cleaned up? Also, the end result will tell us whether a character list is needed or not. Currently, as it stands, my sandbox version of the character list is at 13,589 characters, not including the navigation I have at the top for the parent article and episode list. That's certainly justifiable for a split since the character lists for The Thundermans and Henry Danger are at 8,798 and 8,176 characters, respectively. Although I do have a feeling a lot of the non-main characters listed right now will be removed. Amaury (talk | contribs) 18:42, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

Yours sounds better, I guess. I'll finish that soon, I actually started a spreadsheet but then kinda forgot about it. nyuszika7h (talk) 09:18, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Maggie & Bianca: Fashion Friends

This is one of those tricky ones – while Netflix does include the colon, the onscreen title card for the series does not. That's why I didn't move that one myself. Bottom line: It's debatable, and is probably fine either way... (P.S. I've been watching this one on Netflix, after manually changing the language dub to the native Italian (I have to do this for every new episode I watch!) – the English dub I find to be awful, but it's quite fun in the native Italian!   ). --IJBall (contribstalk) 22:38, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

@IJBall: Well, RaiPlay also lists it without the colon. And yeah, changing audio/subtitle preferences on Netflix can be annoying, but in my experience they stick after a few episodes. nyuszika7h (talk) 21:34, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

Beyond and Famous in Love

I'm going to be removing these articles from my list as I'm tired of dealing with the bullshit from the know-it-all editors who intentionally misinterpret guidelines and make them mean something they don't—see the latest edit to Famous in Love, where normally I'd revert, but then I'd be falsely accused of WP:OWN and bad-faith editing again. (Not only that, but as IJBall and myself have pointed out multiple times, they're called guidelines for a reason.) In other words, they're reading too much into what's said there. It's probably for the best, anyway, and it's the only thing that would keep me from taking a break from Wikipedia altogether. (I'm not burned out, per se, but it's extremely frustrating trying to reason with editors who can't admit that they're wrong.) However, I have created sandbox versions of these where we can edit them and be unbothered: Beyond (sandbox version), Famous in Love (sandbox version). For those watching one or both of those articles, if you're interested, Geraldo Perez and IJBall. MPFitz1968, I'll ping you as well because I'm not sure if you're watching these or not. (They're not checked in my main sandbox page, but just in case.) Amaury (talk | contribs) 18:07, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Television info box

Two times now when I've gone to update the episode count using the visual editor, this has happened (unequal spacing): [57] and [58]. If you look at the history, characters were lost instead of it being just zero. Was there a change somewhere? Amaury (talk | contribs) 14:40, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

@Amaury: That's strange, I'm not sure where the spacing is defined if at all. The TemplateData doesn't include any spacing. We should probably ask at WT:TV or WP:VPT. nyuszika7h (talk) 18:33, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Violetta (telenovela)

Hey, Nyuszika7H! I wanted to let you know that I just finished watching the first season of Violetta, so I think I may try and tackle revising the season 1 plot summary at that article, to try and make it more "encyclopedic". (The current version seems somewhat "amateurish".) As I think you are the only other editor around here who I am aware of having watched this TV series, I thought I'd let you know in case you want keep track of any changes with an eye towards improving them, or in case you have any suggestions for how to improve the season 1 plot summary on your end... Just so you know! --IJBall (contribstalk) 16:21, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

@IJBall: Great, I hope you enjoyed it and you'll watch the other two seasons as well! :) I know there's a lot of things that need to be improved on its articles, but I've been too lazy to fix everything, I've just done a few fixes. It would be great if you could help, feel free to ask me if you're not sure about something. I have all 240 episodes downloaded (it's around 600 GB) so I can check things anytime. I'll also try to be more active on Wikipedia again. nyuszika7h (talk) 19:39, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
I do plan to get to seasons #2 & #3 (though I'm not sure how much longer Netflix will carry this show...), but in the short-term I've bumped Stranger Things and the final season of Longmire (TV series) up to higher priority, and so will tackle those two first, before getting back to the second season of Violetta. (Sidenote: U.S. Netflix has still not picked up seasons 2 & 3 of Maggie & Bianca: Fashion Friends yet, which I find disappointing...) As for revising the season 1 summary, I will try to get to that this week, though I've got some work stuff that I'll probably need to take care of first. --IJBall (contribstalk) 20:11, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
@IJBall: Yeah, it's weird how Netflix didn't release even the second season of Maggie & Bianca yet. It premiered on October 14 here. Though I haven't started watching that show yet. nyuszika7h (talk) 20:16, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
And based on what they do with other shows, I'd have expected Netflix to remove Violetta by now (it's already been removed from Netflix Latin America recently), but it looks like they didn't, which is good. nyuszika7h (talk) 20:20, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
Presumably, Netflix Latin America got the show earlier, and so has had it longer, which is why they've now lost it. But I'm assuming I've got Violetta on the U.S. Netflix for on the other of just a few more months, not years... --IJBall (contribstalk) 21:03, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

Hey

Just wanted to check and see if you've made any progress with The Loud House with regard to determining actual guest stars since animation is complicated, as we know. Amaury (talk | contribs) 18:03, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Also, The Loud House, like with other animation, doesn't always air segments from the same episode together and instead airs them separately most of the time, with the second segment just being a repeat. As such, we end up with more ratings than episodes, so I wonder if it's possible to hide the "Episodes" column with the television season ratings template like we hide the "Timeslot" column, etc. The ratings table shows 26 episodes for seasons one and two, but we're actually finding the average of 46 and 45 ratings, respectively, instead of 26 and 26 ratings because of, again, how they air the segments. Amaury (talk | contribs) 18:16, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
@Amaury: I totally forgot about that, sorry. I'll do it on the weekend. Also, it's not currently possible to hide the column, but I can easily change the template for that. Or should we add an option to change the title? Like to "No. of ratings" or something. nyuszika7h (talk) 18:24, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
Whatever you think would work best, go for it! And thank you.   Amaury (talk | contribs) 18:31, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
