Writing about Sheridan and other subjects close to you

edit

Hi Alexpanneton! I made some revisions to your initial contribution to Come From Away, which I hope you'll not find too heavy handed! I partly wanted to make the text more concise, and also reduce the incidence of language that seemed non-neutral to me. In general, take care to avoid subjective, potentially promotional-souding words like "prestigious", or florid language like "instantly enthralled". You can read Wikipedia's official guideline on word choice at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch.

This is especially important when writing about a subject with which you have a real-world connection, as you apparently do with Sheridan College. I'd like to call your attention to a Wikipedia guidline, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, which will help you navigate this topic and understand what kind of editing is considered unproblematic, and what kind might lead to conflicts with Wikipedia users who fancy themselves anti-spam crusaders.

Lastly, your username appears to be your own name. This is perfectly fine at Wikipedia, but you may wish to read the advice at WP:REALNAME to learn more about the potential disadvantages that may come with exposing your identity online.

I hope these links are helpful, and make your Wikipedia experience more positive, productive and harmonious. I look forward to collaborating with you on Come From Away and other articles. Happy editing! Ibadibam (talk) 02:25, 10 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
