edit

Hello, I'm Yoshi24517. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Tomban, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Online) 20:14, 7 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

The name of our village has been officially changed, its documents are available, how can I change its name in Google Map and wikipedia? Ali moradi85 (talk) 11:00, 16 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

If the name has officially been changed then I should think there must be some official announcement or record of the change, which you should be able to provide as a reference. I have searched and found nothing, but I was only able to search for the name "Tonb e parsan" in the Latin alphabet. Can you provide the authentic spelling in Persian? As for Google maps, you will have to take it up with Google, as it is nothing to do with Wikipedia. Unfortunately, when I told Google about a mistake on their map for the village where I live, they took no notice at all, and didn't change it, but perhaps you will have more success. In Persian is written like this " تنب پارسان"
I request you to change the name of our village in English Wikipedia. I can send you valid documents, but because of the limitation of sending links, I cannot send this. My Telegram ID is "@user90" There, I can send you very valid documents. Ali moradi85 (talk) 09:00, 17 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I now see that you did in fact put the Persian spelling in the article; I don't know why I didn't see that before. Making new searches with the Persian spelling, I have found references to a village called "تنب پارسان" but nothing anywhere saying that the name of the village has been changed from"تمبان" except Persian Wikipedia, which is not a reliable source. As I said above, if the name of he village really has been changed, there must be sources which say it has; maybe an official national or local government website announcing the change, or maybe a newspaper report of the change, for example. Although my searches failed to find anything of the sort, it would surely be easier fo you to find than for me, since you evidently know more about it than I do, and also presumably you understand Persian, so that it will be easier for you to know what to search for. (I see that you have recently edited the Persian Wikipedia article concerning the name of this village.) JBW (talk) 14:59, 17 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

I think I have referred you enough authentic documents from government websites. Please, if approved, change the name of the village to Tanb e Parsan in English Wikipedia. Thank you Ali moradi85 (talk) 12:50, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for that. Unfortunately I can't read Persian, and some of the sources you cited were not in a form in which I could copy the text and paste it into Google translate, but I did manage to read the substance of two of them. They referred to "Tanban" rather than "Tomban", but after some searching around on the internet I decided that it seemed sufficiently likely that it was a different form of the same place name that I decided to go ahead with renaming the article. However, everything I saw in translation gave the name as "Tanb Parsan" rather than "Tonb e parsan", except Google Maps, which on investigation turned out to be using information quoted from the Wikipedia article, so I have named the article "Tanb Parsan". If you still think that isn't good enough, let me know, but I've put quite a lot of work into getting this far. JBW (talk) 14:28, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much for your cooperation. But it is better to write this name like this "Tonb-e -parsan or "Tonb e parsan" Ali moradi85 (talk) 15:40, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
The letter "o" should be used instead of "a". Like this “Tonb e parsan Ali moradi85 (talk) 06:14, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
