- Thanks for this update, I made some revisions today but hope to come back with some more later on. What's noteworthy about Nesstar is the role it played in supporting the growth of social science data sharing and the development of associated technologies (particularly DDI) when no other tools existed to provide that. When end-of-life was announced for Nesstar, repositories scrambled to find alternatives and to date there is no single piece (or suite) of software that fully fills that gap. As those organizations are starting to complete their Nesstar replacement projects, I expect to be able to reference more official, published sources that describe that Nesstar-filled gap. I've just had a hard time retrieving these documents, discussions, etc. since so much of it happened 20+ years ago, in part via platforms that no longer exist and weren't archived.
