Your recent edit

edit

In this edit you added a speedy deletion tag and a COI tag and left the edit summary "Improved article" and listed this as a minor edit. On Wikipedia, a minor edit is one that could not reasonably be contested by anyone, and makes no significant change to the sense of the page. Things like correcting spelling errors and typos, fixing malformed wiki-markup, and fixing grammar are minor edits. See WP:MINOR. Please don't mark non-minor edits as minor. Also, adding a speedy deletion tag and a maintenance tag cannot reasonably be called "improving" the article, as no edit was made to the actual text of the article. Please don't use misleading edit summaries. Finally, when an article is already in the process of a deletion discussion, adding a db-a7 tag is usually not helpful -- that very issue is already being discussed. In any case, whiule notability may well be questioned here, there are several claims of significance, and an A7 speedy is not appropriate in my judgement as an admin who does a lot of Category:CSD patrol. Speedy deletion nomination of Jon Lindquist

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jon Lindquist requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.  Velella  Velella Talk   09:04, 15 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Aliciadewi. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. HappyValleyEditor (talk) 02:13, 7 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Here [1]. As well, you characterize your edits with summaries claiming "Improved article." In fact, many of your edits are unacceptably promotional in tone, and are unsourced. A tag has been placed on Jon Lindquist, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Notability

edit

Aliciadewi, please read this page explaining what we mean by notability. It links to specific guidelines for people who do various things; I believe the one applicable to Jon Lindquist is WP:CREATIVE, which is why I mentioned it specifically at the AfD discussion. What extensive coverage of Lindquist exists that we haven't yet seen? I haven't found any articles about him in newspapers, for example - are there such articles, but not online? (If so, add complete information to the article: author if any, title, name of newspaper, and date). The coverage you have added so far just does not meet our notability standard, but I see you saying at the AfD that tehre is enough coverage that the article should be kept, and I'd hate for us to lose an article where there was enough coverage, so please, look at the standard and explain how he meets it. Proposed deletion of Leroy Clampitt

edit

The article Leroy Clampitt has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable musician.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proposed deletion of The Honorifics

edit

The article The Honorifics has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable group, written by an account with a history of creating promotional articles; see Jon Lindquist, now going through the AfD process. This article is supported by press releases, and the band's sole claim to notability are awards given by the Indie Music Channel, which does not itself appear to meet notability guidelines.

Hello

edit

I see in your edit summaries, you only put the words "Improved article" or "Improved article and references". This may be because you are not following WP:COI. DO NOT advertise on Wikipedia, or, if you are not, make good edit summaries. There is an issue on the COI noticeboard about you, go to WP:COIN. Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Aliciadewi. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. ThePlatypusofDoom (Talk) 17:57, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing, because it is clear that you are here not to contribute to building the encyclopedia, but to use Wikipedia for promotion, which is contrary to Wikipedia policy (as you have been informed), because you have almost certainly been editing in violation of the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use by failing to disclose paid editing, despite being informed of the need to do so, and because in various ways you have persistently made it clear that you have no intention of editing cooperatively. (To give just one example of that, you were told over seven months ago not to use the generic edit summary "improved article" for everything, but you have continued to use that or the minor extension "Improved article and references" even when they are totally inappropriate, such as when what you are editing is not an article, "Improved article and references" for edits which don't affect references at all, and so on). If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.
