Image:AllisonFisher.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:AllisonFisher.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 00:38, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your constructive edits at Plastic Paddy - it really defused a tense situation. - WeniWidiWiki 19:05, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

- I just can't believe that this amateurish page is anything representative of WP. It is still loaded with POV and original research. The page should define the term without going into stories about soccer players who happen to play for Ireland, and whose own countries of birth did not pick them. They don't play for Ireland because they are pp's. They play for Ireland because they are invariably good players, and have not been picked elsewhere. They certainly are not pp's. The page is a joke, simple. Maybe in reality we are all Plastic Americans, LOL. 86.42.159.149 17:07, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry you find the term so offensive, dude. I don't see a whole lot of POV in there, frankly. WP is merely documenting the well-known phrase. Sure and begorrah and tip o' the hat to ya there, sorr - Alison✍ 17:23, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Apologies for not explaining myself clearly. I never used the word offensive, it's just the poor quality of the article. Alas, the quality of Irish wikipedians leaves much to be desired. 86.42.159.149 18:44, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- "Alas, the quality of Irish wikipedians leaves much to be desired" - I beg to disagree with your rather sweeping generalisation - Alison✍ 18:49, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Ali, I'm getting very frustrated by this IP editor's removal of source material without discussing it on the talk page. Please double-check any removals of sources or refs, as the agenda to whittle the article down and antagonize other users has already been proven in the above comments, my talk page and elsewhere. - WeniWidiWiki 21:01, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm trying to remain dispassionate about the whole thing, really. If there's anything untoward going on, I'll try to fix it. Either way, I've nothing really invested in the article one way or another other than trying to improve it. In the above user's last edits, some refs were removed which arguably pointed to blogs. I think this is somewhat justified as blogs hardly constitute notable references. I'll keep watching, though. - Alison✍ 21:08, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Ray of Sunshine!
The Ray of Sunshine Award
Hereby awarded to Alison for salvaging articles and brightening up my watchlist. You know how sometimes you hate checking your watchlist, especially when you see that certain someone or an IP has edited your favorite articles? The Ray of Sunshine is bestowed on that person that, when you see their name at the top of your watchlist, you know that all is right with the world, you can relax, and do something besides cleaning up another mess. May be awarded to any person who consistently brightens your day, but especially where their involvement in something that is bothering you lightens your load. ~ Kathryn NicDhàna ♫♦♫ 01:46, 13 January 2007 (UTC) |
Advise me please
Hi Ali, I have seen your edits a few times and trust what you say. Could you do me a favour and look at recent edits (reversions) I have made and comments on the talk page of British Isles. I have a nasty feeling I may have been overstepping the RV mark although I have the best of intentions. If you have a chance to look and give me an opinion I would be grateful. :)Abtract 22:04, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- On second thoughts, don't bother I think I have. Abtract 22:31, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I've semiprotected it. I'm not clear that there is any reason why it should not be taken to Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion and then salted. Jkelly 00:10, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- You first have personally attacked me on my talk page. Remember WP:NPA. Practice what you preach, and lead by example. Have a nice day. 86.42.160.47 00:28, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Go ahead and point it out. Here's your edit history - Alison✍ 02:19, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

- Comment, Yeah, it's OK to call other people PP's, but not our Alison. I hope that you are not a hypocrite, because overall you seem a very nice person. Be well, no hard feelings on my part. 86.42.185.19 02:02, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- Point out where I called someone a PP ... if you can - Alison✍ 03:36, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

No prob. I've thankfully not yet had the honor :) of user page vandalism, so I keep an eye out for it on those on my watchlist. Fvasconcellos 16:33, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Jeffrey Spiegel, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Why is it spamming?
The resources I am posting are relevant and from an Emmy award winning PBS series?
I don't understand why some of the other resources are allowed but these are considered spam. Please explain. Thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.237.8.231 (talk) 21:26, 26 January 2007 (UTC).
- You're posting a link to the same site again and again and again. This is (link)spamming. Wikipedia is not a collection of links (see WP:NOT) nor are the links necessarily appropriate nor encyclopedic (see WP:EL) - Alison✍ 23:07, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Vandalism
Hi Allison, I appreciate your concern for the Down Syndrome page, but I am left wondering why you deleted the picture of the autistic man. I think he is faring quite well. He is actually a student. We should cherish these people rather than take them down.
Thenavy 02:12, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- Fine, but Autism is not Down syndrome, just for starters ... - Alison✍ 02:51, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- Because it's being used for blatant vandalism, as has your account. Nice try. - Alison✍ 02:13, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Isn't that what most people would call circular reasoning? Can you come up with something better? Nice try. Thenavy 07:15, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Isn't that what most people would call circular reasoning? - ah, nope. - Alison✍ 18:32, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- You're right. You thought it was vandalism because you thought it was vandalism. Now that is a nice, linear train of thought. I'm glad we've been able to have this intelligent discourse. Thenavy 02:21, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, no. Two other admins also considered it vandalism. Go figure. Are we done now? - Alison✍ 02:53, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Furthermore, if you "enjoy making minor contributions to wiki pages", then why are 90% of your edits on my userpage? Also, why was your very first contribution an image upload? Hm? - Alison✍ 02:58, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Irish Archive
Nice one on archiving the Irish talkpage, I was reading on TWO widescreens with Firefox streched across the two, it still took ages to scroll down to the bottom. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ferdiaob (talk • contribs) 02:08, 28 January 2007 (UTC).
