Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Strasbourg attack

edit

I've taken this off the article talk page, but WP operates in a more cautious way than news sources typically do. One of our core policies is WP:V. The early indicators are that the Strasbourg attack is probably/almost certainly going to have an Islamist dimension, but the reader can come to that conclusion as easily as we can as to what this incident may well be/probably is. We state only what is certain and we attribute it (ie this police official/justice minister said the incident was being treated as "insert quote").

I've been involved in several of these big "breaking stories" - 4 times out of 5 everybody's "first guess", turned out to be wholly or largely true - the fifth time wholly wrong. Caution, even if it seems pedantic sometimes, is no bad thing overall. Pincrete (talk) 12:13, 15 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

This is why we don't add the names of suspects to articles. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:50, 23 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
We must be up-to-date and complete with our info. No censorship. :) Alivebills (talk) 20:54, 23 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion

edit

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. Edelseider (talk) 14:07, 24 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Alivebills. You've been warned per the outcome of the edit warring complaint about 2018 Strasbourg attack. If you revert the article again you may be blocked, unless you have received a prior consensus for your change on the article talk page. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 16:10, 25 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
