Back F.C.
editSorry, but the article doesn't meet notability criteria. Archibald99 00:48, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- These aren't "my rules" and I am not an admin, so I do not have the power to delete articles. If you think the article was wrongly deleted, or the criteria should be changed in some way, take your point up at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football. Archibald99 01:38, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Can you remember the exact title you created the article with? I can't find it in the deletion log, which would give information on who deleted it and the reason for deletion, which might shed more light on the matter.
Archibald99 made a slight mistake above, While the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Notability contains some good advice, it is not an official policy or guideline, but rather some ideas about what project members consider notable. None of it is binding. The most important policy about inclusion is Wikipedia:Attribution which explains that all material must be verifiable, that is, it must be based on material published in reliable sources (such as books and newspapers). - Apologies, that was the closest I could find to any set criteria. In my experience I've never seen any amateur club article kept after an AfD, for example. Archibald99 11:50, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- To clarify, Wikipedia:Attribution is the relevant policy, and is binding (any guidelines defer to it). If you include your references, and make it clear why the club is notable, the article should not be speedily deleted if you recreate it. However, it may be listed at Articles for Deletion, where discussions take place over several days to decide whether an article should be kept or deleted. Judging by previous AfDs, for example Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jeanfield Swifts F.C., Scottish Junior Football Association clubs are kept, clubs below that are likely to be deleted. Oldelpaso 13:34, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- Some of those may well merit deletion themselves (see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS), depending on whether or not strong performance in the Scottish Amateur Cup is regarded as notable. Oldelpaso 13:53, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- You make a convincing case that Back are notable compared to many other amateur clubs, the question is whether any such club is notable. Sounds like its one of those cases where some people would support inclusion and some people would support deletion. It is uncertain what the outcome of an AfD would be. Oldelpaso 14:46, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I'm willing to restore the article if you wish, so that you can add some of the material you mentioned. The decision on whether or not to delete will be decided by an AfD. Oldelpaso 19:28, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

(de-indent) The article is now at Back F.C., and the AfD will shortly be created at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Back F.C. I'd suggest adding any sources and references to the article as soon as possible. Oldelpaso 19:39, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Another editor has added the {{prod}}
template to the article Highland Football Academy, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 03:59, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
