Confederate States Secretary of War

edit

Hi Alozieibe. I just saw your request to GOCE and have edited Confederate States Secretary of War. Not your sandbox, but the existing article. However, I think you may have been looking for help on your sandbox effort, so I'll give you some advice here.

  1. Stick to facts. For example, instead of saying "... managed such important aspects as medical distribution ...", just say "... managed medical distribution ...". Saying things like "such important aspects as", where you give out value judgements, is called editorializing and is to be avoided in encyclopedia writing.
  2. Make the prose tight, avoiding redundancy. You don't need to begin with "First and foremost, ...", just dive right in with the first piece of information. Avoid flowery language like "correct the figurative ship". Avoid overdoing praise, especially with clichés ("strong work ethic").
  3. Wikify! The main part of this is to provide wikilinks to other articles. For example, there's an article on Judah P. Benjamin that you could link to. I expect there will be many others. (We don't link to common terms that everyone will know, though.)
  4. When you post messages in places like your or any other talk page or the GOCE Requests page, remember to sign your post by ending it with four tildes, thus: ~~~~.

I hope this will help. I will keep your talk page on my watchlist for a couple of days, so if you have any questions, just say so and I'll try to help. Best, --Stfg (talk) 18:34, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
