File:EVO 2 console.png is too low in brightness. Look how dark it is!

Windows Photo Gallery can't edit PNG files, so I tried converting it to JPEG, but then it loses quite a lot of quality! So can you do it please? Thanks.

Quick response... you were up late like me. I had been celebrating Wales beating the old enemy and winning the Triple Crown. Let's hope Scotland has success today in Murrayfield.

I wonder if I could ask you to make me a somewhat similar map, but featuring South Wales/the traditional county of Monmouthshire/Castleton Castleton is a small village/hamlet midway between Cardiff and Newport. Yeah, that shouldn't be too much trouble at all and I'm more than happy to do it. There are a few things I'd like to clarify though:

1. When you say a similar map, do you mean a map showing South Wales/the traditional county of Monmouthshire/Castleton within the UK?
2. What do you mean by South Wales (the Wikipedia article gives various definitions - which do you mean)?
3. Do you want one map or three (i.e. all of those things together or one for each of them)?

Thank you for your reply. To try to explain:

1. Partly "Yes" to that question, but, comparing it with your Wales map, Europe would be replaced by South Wales as the largest, background map, so that in turn Monmouthshire would be replacing the British Isles as the middle map, which would then be enlarged to form the third map, highlighting Castleton, Newport.

1. To give you enough room, I suggest it might be best to not take South Wales too literally, but to draw a line West-East through Wrexham or thereabouts and regard all Wales south of that line as your largest map.

1. All things together as your new Wales map.

A470

Hello again,

I am wondering whether you would be not too busy to make a straightforward map showing the total route of the A470. We are anxious to improve this article within the WikiProject Wales programme.

The A470 is a major long-distance connective spine road in Wales, running from Cardiff on the south coast to Llandudno on the north coast. It covers 186 miles (299 km) in its entirety, over a zig-zagging route through the country's mountainous central region, including the Brecon Beacons and much of Snowdonia National Park.

Really just a relief map of Wales showing the route that could be inserted into the Info' box.

Not sure why you feel the need to reign over this page as though it were a personal project of yours. Maybe it is. Or, maybe you feel some need to defent Joystiq and its reviews/reviewers. Nonetheless, I don't think you're contributing to the quality of the page or to the general knowledge of mankind (as you suggest is your goal) by capriciously removing factual and verifiable information from the page. To what are you referring? I am an English teacher and know exactly how to spell and punctuate. If you are referring to billion then the U.K. billion, which we teach at British schools as 1 million million differs vastly from the U.S. billion, being 1000 million.

Obviously, you are not au fait with English education. We continually inform pupils of the difference between a U.S. billion and U.K. billion and teach them accordingly so do not tell me what young people are taught. It is very probable that few people even realiSe the difference. There may be no regulating body but English does have grammatical rules, as does every language. I can assure you that our examination bodies certainly do not accept incorrect, yes incorrect U.S. orthography. Xbox 360 sales list

The Xbox 360 sales in list of best selling video games was edited without any prior discussion with other users. At least discuss and don't go of your own accord. Many users have agreed that statisticsbrain is a reliable source. Here's a proof saying that they can be relied upon for list of video game sales(http://www.statisticbrain.com/about/). They're a professional website. You're list is totally outdated COD MW3 is best selling video game of 360 now and many sites agree say the same thing. Ref Wikipedia Video Game Category

Hi, I wanted to find out if it would be possible to include a reference to our website on some of the video game articles found in Wikipedia. I noticed references on several pages but when I read these references I found that some of them had very little information about the game in question. I thought I would contact some of the chief editors at Wiki Gaming section to see if were eligible to be cited in various game pages.

A little about our site:-

The site contains over 700,000 High Definition images taken from the gameplay of around 27,000 games. These images are taken from real gameplay and are not from game trailers as is often the case with sites such as IGN, Gamespot, etc. Our site has a UK and a US section and there are currently over 5000 reviews on site, unique reviews written by professional gamers, not in-house staff, and as a result they are completely unbiased video game reviews. We also have thousands of trailers on site and are constantly adding to them.

I have been working hard for over 5 years and have still some way to go. When I see links like the example below in Wikipedia I feel that my site may at least be worth a mention if not a reference.

The above url is a little long, ugly and not user friendly and there is far too little useful information, if any at all, on the page it links to. The information consists of 20 words and one image. The information that it does contain does not relate to the PS Vita at all so making it to all intents and purposes irrelevant.

Not even IGN have images in HD of this game taken from real game play. 3) We have a Video Trailer, without ads, that is compatible with all browsers and mobiles. 4) There are prices for this game and we check over 20 of the UK ’s and USA leading sites.

I also see other links on numerous pages listing gametrailers.com carrying a simple video trailer. We have over 7000 pages with contents like that of the numbered list I gave above. These also contain images, reviews, prices, cheats, video trailers, and on most pages recorded in game footage.

The URL below leads to an example of one of our pages which contains both gameplay footage and trailers, a review, cheats, prices, related games, a large cover image and in game images.

Our page contains images, a video trailer, prices, a review of the relevant game, and with no ads on the videos you get to watch the video immediately.

I was hoping that I would be able to edit some of the articles relevant to games on our site if I felt our site provided more useful information than some already present, without having to worry about having such edits, references or links removed by editors because the site is not well known.

Our site is 5 years old, and I personally have worked for up to 18 hours on most days even during the 2 years when it was off line while being seriously restructured, and content has, and is, continuously being added. What we really need now is more customer added material in the form of reviews and cheats and so on, but of course this requires exposure. It’s a bit of a Catch 22 situation.

If we are ever going to compete with the likes of IGN I need exposure such as that which follows from inclusion in pages listed in Wikipedia. Our information is, we believe, factual, relevant and better than most sites listed in Wikipedia to date.

I thought I would contact you because you are the chief editors of Video Games in Wikipedia, and did not want to start listing my urls on pages without proper permission. I personally have put my heart and soul into this site and I hope it shows, and I really need it to work. I have worked so hard, it hurts. We now have over 1000 members, and 5 staff, so we are making huge progress daily.

Sorry for the long post, I wanted to put my point across as well as explain what my ambitions are for this site. It is not just a one page site as there are over 400,000 pages, and over 200,000 pounds worth of investment has been ploughed into it. Without the help of editors on Wikipedia, and the exposure that such a highly regarded source is likely to bring, I cannot possibly hope to compete with sites who have so many links in Wikipedia although much of our material is more comprehensive. I feel that once seen many will agree that a more visible internet presence is deserved.

I hope you can offer some assistance or guidelines in regards to your policy for inclusion.

I also wondered if it would be possible to for me to create a page on Review Any Game as this site did. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ToTheGame

The reason being, the site above may be half decent, but we have more images, more games, more trailers, more gamplay and we also do reviews and prices, yet we have no page in Wikipedia. The above company maybe a lot older, but in terms of comparing the two sites, our site far outshines the above site in almost every respect.

Sixaxis

I restored some of the changes I made for several reasons. First, your recent edits had grammar issues. For instance:

1. "...was the official gamepad for Sony's PlayStation 3 console from the game console's launch in 2006 until 2008"

The term "console" doesn't need to be mentioned twice. Also I don't see how stating a date range by adding additional prepositional phrases was an improvement over what was in the opening before. Seems to stretch it out too much.

2. "...incorporates the haptic technology"

Here, "the" is not necessary.

3. "Sixaxis controllers can also be used on the PSP Go using Bluetooth; the controller..."

Your subject is plural and then goes singular, which isn't preferred when using a semi-colon. Also, this sentence shouldn't exist by itself. The prose used in the lead needs to be in paragraph form.

I also noticed you are trying to separate Sony and PlayStation 3 by linking both in the opening line. Successive links are discouraged per WP:LINKSTYLE.

GameCube

This article was moved from Nintendo GameCube to just GameCube back in September. In your opinion, should Nintendo still be in the title? It would seem that Nintendo is part of the official title, although it is technically acceptable to omit it. --GoneIn60 (talk) 09:02, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

I don't really have a strong opinion either way. With most systems it is incorrect to add the manufacturer, so those kinda have to remain without it. For others, such as the (Super) Nintendo Entertainment System, it is kinda important that it be included. With the (Nintendo) GameCube however, it isn't really imperative that it be either way. Nintendo GameCube is correct, but GameCube would probably be allowable under WP:COMMONNAME. There was a discussion about it on Talk:GameCube#Move to Nintendo GameCube a few months ago, but didn't contribute to it since I don't have a strong opinion. Thank you, I should have simply checked the talk page! I agree that there are good arguments either way, but as it seems, the last established consensus was ignored, intentionally or not. I don't think consensus being ignored previously (unless it was only a short time ago) is a valid reason to move an article back to its old location. What matters is current consensus, and it is certainly possible that in the intervening period (or even prior to the move) a silent consensus has grown for the new name. I think the only reason why one should move an article that has been stable at a particular name for a while (like GameCube) without discussion is if it is in blatant, unambiguous violation of a policy or guideline (e.g. WP:TITLE). Remember, page moves are not quite as trivial to undo as edits. Also, in order to do so, you'd have to delete the redirect Nintendo GameCube, which I think requires admin rights, so unless you have those I don't think you can move it on your own. (See WP:MOVE.) Thanks for your input. Actually, you can move a page back over a redirect without admin rights, as long as that redirect hasn't been tampered with since its last move. However, you do have a valid point that enough time might have passed to form a new consensus. My only issue is that there are a lot of articles out there (what I'd call children articles like Nintendo GameCube controller) that should follow the same pattern as the main article. If GC is acceptable, then so should GC controller, and thus, should probably be moved as well. Also, the formatting in the infobox, lead, and other parts of the article need updated to represent the name change. The data for my maps are generally collected from various other maps already on Wikimedia Commons. At some point I intend to make a full list of sources for each map and post it on each map; the only reason I haven't yet is I haven't had time to track them all down again. There are some examples I can give off the top of my head however, such as Rzeczpospolita Rozbiory 1.png, which was used for Europe 1789.svg, and Ziegelbrenner's maps of Germany, which I have used for several of my maps and which each have a list of sources:

• HRR 1789.png - used for Europe 1789.svg
• Rheinbund 1812.png - used for Europe 1812.svg
• Deutsches Reich1.png - used for Blank map of Europe 1890.svg and Blank map of Europe 1914.svg
• Deutsches Reich2.png - used for Blank map of Europe 1929-1938.svg, and to a lesser degree for Blank map of Europe October 1938 - March 1939.svg

Some are also derived from older maps, such as Europa 1890.jpg, which was used for Blank map of Europe 1890.svg. Since the scale of this and other similar old maps of Europe as a whole limit their precision, the data are combined with those from maps with smaller boundaries (such as those mentioned above).

Of course, many of the borders are also derived from modern borders (e.g. the Prussian/German Imperial - Habsburg/Austrian Imperial/Czechoslovak border from the modern Polish - Czech border).

Xbox 360 image

Hello there. The current infobox image for Xbox 360 is File:Xbox-360-Consoles-Infobox.png - however I believe this image is bad because the Elite is black like the S, so sometimes it looks as if both consoles shown are 360 Ss. Another thing is that the Elite on that image looks as if it received little light, and also the Elite's power button is off (no light), which both again makes it look like the S.

My suggestion is to replace the Elite by one of the white/silver 360 models (i.e. Core, Arcade, Pro). I unsuccessfully tried to do it by making this image File:Xbox_360_Pro_and_S.PNG, but obviously that's a bad image. First of all I don't think it is a problem. To me, the Elite is clearly distinct from the S, black or not. I also disagree about the Elite receiving little light. Regardless of that though, you're never going to be able to Photoshop two photos together effectively enough to replace the existing image unless the two console were taken under more or less identical conditions (lighting, camera angle, focal length etc). I you really think it's a problem you should probably contact User:Evan-Amos about it, since that is who took the existing photo (and several others on here, including one of an arcade). Before you do so however, you might want to ask about it on Talk:Xbox 360, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games or ;Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games/Xbox to see if anyone else agree that there is a problem at all.

Incidentally, you might want to delete the "attempt" you made - the Pro console image you've used is from a Microsoft press-kit, and is thus non-free and may not be used on Commons (there is no fair-use on Commons).

Okay, thanks for the heads up. I think I'll go and delete the image I created. To me it is a problem though particularly about the colour making it look similar. I was originally going to ask this on Xbox 360's talk, but I realised there was very little activity in the talk recently so I came up to you. That image won't work any better than the first one you used - the angle, lighting etc are all completely different than the S photo, so when placed side-by-side will look completely wrong (they will at best look like two photos side-by-side, not like two consoles photographed together). Also, without some kind of reference point, such as a controller, getting them to the correct scale would be nigh on impossible. I'd still try the 360 talk page before going ahead as well, even if Evan-Amos gets a photo taken for you - the fact that there's not much activity doesn't mean nobody's watching, just that they don't have anything to say. Worst case scenario, you don't get a response and your position remains the same. If you don't and just go ahead, anyone who objects is far more likely to simply revert your change - it's generally best to discuss these things first. It should also be noted that while I do not oppose replacing the Elite with a Pro, Core or Arcade, I would oppose any change that was not at least as good a photo as the existing one. Practically speaking, this probably limits what I'd consider acceptable to another photo by Evan-Amos (since photographers of his calibre and who have access to the quantity of gaming hardware that he has, along with the inclination to photograph it, are few and far between on Wikipedia). German states maps

Hi. Congratulations on your revamps of the historical German states maps for the German Empire and the Weimar Republic. They look amazing! Are you able to do something similar for the Template:German Federal States map? I tried a while back changing the map to match the original German Empire and Weimar Republic maps, but it was reverted. Thanks! I certainly could do something with it, although finding the time might be a bit tricky over the next few weeks (I have a lot of work stuff coming up). I'll certainly give it a go at some point though. Thankfully there are plenty of SVG maps of the German states on Commons so I shouldn't have to make one from scratch (which should save some time).

By the way, do you have any constructive criticism about the two I've already done (colour scheme, label positioning etc)?

I have only one request for the existing maps, could the labels on both be moved so that they are both in the same position? Some of the labels such as Anhalt and Brunswick are in different locations for each map and it may be better if they were in the same locations (I do understand that Prussia needs to be moved though due to territorial changes). Yeah, I did try to keep the labels consistent where possible. Unfortunately I didn't know/think about the Weimar Republic template until after I'd completed the German Empire one. One the plus side, moving the labels around is really quick/easy to do. However, updating the ImageMap to reflect the changes is little more tricky (although it depends on the label; some, such as Brunswick and Anhalt can be done just as easily as the map itself). I'll give it a go at some point. (I intended to move the Schaumburg-Lippe one up to match the Weimar Republic map anyway, and its probably the hardest to do since it means re-doing the part of Prussia underneath it thanks to a poor design decision on my part, although I could do a quick-and-dirty patch on it I suppose.)
