Álter proviene de la combinación de las palabras alter ego (que traducido del latín es "el otro yo" o "un segundo yo") y Marketing, según Philip Kotler es «el proceso social y administrativo por el que los grupos e individuos satisfacen sus necesidades al crear e intercambiar bienes y servicios», aunque consideramos esta segunda definición más acorde con el concepto de Marketing "como una filosofía de la dirección que sostiene que la clave para alcanzar los objetivos de la organización reside en identificar las necesidades y deseos del mercado objetivo y adaptarse para ofrecer las satisfacciones deseadas por el mercado de forma más eficiente que la competencia."
Alter Marketing es una nueva estrategia de Marketing que se define a partir de las necesidades biológicas, psicológicas, sociológicas y filosóficas, mientras que las tres primeras forman parte del NeuroMarketing y son de gran ayuda para las principales funciones de captación, retención y fidelización, el Álter Marketing pretende ir más allá, no solamente logrando una conexión con los estímulos internos de la persona que busca satisfacer más que una necesidad material o psicológica de manera personal o familiar, sino en un enfoque global, donde se busca que la empresa y el cliente o consumidor busquen una mejora humano-social que ayude al desarollo del colectivo en sí.
En la actualidad, hay empresas que fabrican productos que contribuyen a salvaguardar los recursos renovables y en ese sentido genera un insight importante en el consumidor porque le da un valor al producto más allá del mismo producto y los beneficios que propone el Neuromarketing, pues este se basa en la percepción del producto/servicio pero aún a nivel de venta. En este punto, el ÁlterMArketing pretende romper ese esquema que aún permanece a nivel de productos desde un punto de vista objetivo y con mayor trascendencia.
ÁlterMarketing es la oportunidad de que el cliente o consumidor pueda sentir, ver, palpar y constatar de que lo que ellos no pueden hacer por sus distintas actividades, las empresas lo hacen apostando por grupos humanos para que mejoren su desarrollo. El cliente se convertirá en un "héroe", su álter ego será activado, y comprenderá que más allá de la obtención de un producto, estará siendo parte activa de esta transformación y mejora de su sociedad. Los grupos a ser apoyados no necesariamente deben ser grandes, pero sí con calidad humana para lograr el objetivo.
Desde este punto, las alianzas estratégicas con grupos de emprendimiento y de todo tipo que busque mejorar al ser humano y que este se convierta en una constante de desarrollo serán vitales, y esto generará una percepción favorable de los clientes hacia la empresa y si una de las funciones del Marketing es fidelizar, entonces se habrá logrado el fin.
