Astronomers start by making a long series of observations of the star, in this case Gliese 581. Then they look at the images of the star to find discrepencies in it's relative location. They then take these observations and analyze them to locate patterns. A mathematical model allows them to convert the identified pattern to a series of planetary orbits.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule.
