Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Amer nadeem advocate high court, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it is being used to promote a group, company, product or website on Wikipedia. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. Cindamuse (talk) 10:51, 25 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Amer nadeem advocate high court, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 17:16, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Cirt & Cindamuse, you might have noticed from the log that this account was requested via WP:ACC. There was a bit of discussion on it. The end decision as to approve it because this is his name and his job. While a bit odd there is nothing in that that is cause to block him for a user name policy violation. You can't be blocked for using your name for your account and then writing an autobiography. Doing that calls for some instruction in policy and maybe the article is deleted. If say Jeanne Shaheen decided to get involved with Wikipedia and created the account User:Senator Jeanne Shaheen you would likely request some confirmation of identity but once that is resolved you would not uphold and enforce a block upon her for using her name and job title as her user name. Cross-referencing his name, his job, his specialty, his email address, and his IP address i was able to confirm that this is not impersonation and thus i OK'd the user name. delirious & lost~hugs~ 16:01, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
With respect, the only edit this account has made is the one for his own article (which has been proposed for deletion below), which is pure self-promotion, and in no sense meets the criteria for inclusion on Wikipedia (incidentally, the weblink is incorrect in that article, it should be http://www.actionaid.org/pakistan/index.aspx?PageID=5187 - "On behalf of SCRM, Advocate Amer Nadeem, an activist for the rights of the Hindus drafted a Pakistani Hindu Marriages Registration Bill 2009, in consultation with Hindu Religious scholars ,Hindu community and the Hindu marriage Registration Laws & Rules of India."); a look for reliable independent sources do not reveal that he meets notability.
His sole reason for creating this account would appear to be to create this article about himself, presumably either as something to point to and show his importance, or for self-promotion. As such, if I had come across this account myself, I would have possibly blocked it for promotional use. Incidentally, neither User:Amer Nadeem not User:Amer nadeem exist on any WMF project - there was no reason to append a job title to the end of the user name, and again, I can only assume that it was for promotional reasons - the reason for the block.
Personally, I would be happy to unblock the account if the user would be willing to:
  1. Request a new name without the job title included (including one of the two possibilities I gave above)
  2. Agree not to create articles about himself or his campaign (worthy though it may be), or to insert information about himself or his campaign into other articles (if he has some reliable independent sources which can verify the information, myself or others can give advice on how it could be added to Wikipedia
If he would agree with these two conditions, I would be unwilling to unblock him. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 20:37, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Amer Nadeem

edit

The article Amer Nadeem has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Doesn't necessarily meet notability requirements for WP:BIO and refs are questionable.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 12:14, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
