Linking to drafts
editPlease do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Panpsychism. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. An edit has converted these links, into links to the not-currently-existing page (redlinks) where the draft will be placed if it is eventually accepted. Thus the links will automatically become valid links aimed at the correct target when and if the draft is accepted.|These links have been removed. Thank you. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 23:01, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thank goodness you were there to fix my colossal blunder. Nevertheless, I would have appreciated if you had at least also fixed the wrong redirect, while you were at it. Amphioxys (talk) 06:00, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
- I am sorry that an incorrect link was left by my edit, and i thank you for correcting it. Of course, the link to a draft page was not a "colossal blunder", and I did not mean to imply anything of the sort. My edits were semi-automated using WP:AWB to change several hundred links to drafts in article space. I decided to do this by simply removing the "Draft:" from the links. In most cases this left a red link, and when and if the draft was promoted to article space, would result in a working link. In this case an existing redirect meant that was not a good result. My apologies. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 19:00, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
Philip Goff page
editHi, Amphioxys, it's great to see that you're working on a page for Philip Goff! I had started a draft page for him a while ago, but as I have not been working on it, I thought I could provide you with the sources and links I had found.
- CBC Radio article with some basic information
- Book review of Consciousness and Fundamental Reality by Daniel Stoljar
- Book review of Galileo's Error by Galen Strawson
- Goff's author page at The Guardian
- Goff's author page at Scientific American
The first three could be good sources for the article body. The last two could go in "External links" at the end. Do you mind if I add directly to your draft page? Best, Gazelle55 (talk) 12:53, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
While I'm at it, a few more:
- Goff's author page at Aeon magazine
- Goff's author page at Edge.org
- Academic reply to Goff's views by James Tartaglia
- Goff's blog (separate from his main website)
- Academic review of Galileo's Error by Paul Eling
- Book review of Galileo's Error by Julian Baggini (I don't have access to the site myself)
Gazelle55 (talk) 13:15, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- One last question that I was uncertain of: does Goff meet WP:NACADEMIC? I was thinking he may meet #1 or #7 but we would need sources saying so. Best of luck! Gazelle55 (talk) 13:28, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Gazelle55! Yeah, I just finished his latest book and given his rising prominence in academia, I'm surprised there wasn't a page on him already, instead of a redirect to some mayor somewhere in North America. I would intuit that Goff is prominent enough for his own article here, but I haven't gone through the criteria yet and test him. Amphioxys (talk) 15:20, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- Amphioxys, I can help with that at a later stage if you like. (For starters, this post could help with establishing notability. Hopefully JCS will have an announcement about it soon.) Anyway, if you ever want input on the draft let me know. Gazelle55 (talk) 19:38, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
