In the interest of full disclosure I admit I'm a Kame fan, but I've always tried to be objective when looking at him, which includes his faults. Yes, I've seen those before, but they're statements the members made almost two years ago now and aren't very relevant to current group dynamics. You may not see it that way, but I do. It's a perfect illustration of how subjective things like this are, which is why I think it'd be better if we just got rid of the section altogether.

And concerning the matter of bias, I hope you don't take offense at my suggestion that that the edits you've made of Jin's article show an obvious bias towards him that colors the tone of your additions, in the same way that if I added any information about Kame that could possibly be left up to interpretation it would be colored by my own bias.

However, I was also serious about wanting to make sure JE articles are more standardized (if you've seen my comment over at Jin's page). I feel people would be better served if the JE wiki pages were reserved for things like biographical information and musical or dramatic output. Any fans wanting to find out information of a less quantitative nature have many fan sites and communities to fall back on.

Thanks for your understanding about the matter though.

Fair use rationale for Image:Baby & jin.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Baby & jin.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Pinkpineapple (talk) 03:48, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Baby & jin.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Baby & jin.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.   Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. It is against Wikipedia guidelines to remove speedy deletion tags until a moderator has reviewed the image or article. Further removal of said tags will result in having your account nominated for banning. Pinkpineapple (talk) 23:30, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use images

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. As a free encyclopedia, we are very strict on fair use. In fact, it's not even called fair use – it's the non-free content criteria. We can generally only use non-free images of living people in extreme cases; otherwise, we will typically have no image at all.

  • For instance, if KAT-TUN were to break up today, we could use a non-free image since the likelihood of ever making a free shot of all of them together is almost 0%.
  • If it shows the person doing something that cannot be ordinarily shown, that could be used as a justification as well (not sure of an example; i know that Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a historical event, but is not a person)
  • J. D. Salinger has a non-free image as well because he is notoriously reclusive

As such, that is why the image of Jin Akanishi is going to be deleted, as he is living, not a recluse, and there exists the possibility that we could get a free image of him some time in the future. hbdragon88 (talk) 06:44, 16 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Free" means it is licensed for commerical use and dervatives without having to get special permission for it. The TV station has not explicitly listed it under those terms. I'm sure they want to retain use of the images for reruns. As for other examples...we're pushing towards that, trying to remove all non-free images, so "x article has an image" is not a good reason to for Akanishi's article to retain his image. hbdragon88 (talk) 07:17, 16 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Jukan_jin_2.jpg

edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Jukan_jin_2.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. hbdragon88 (talk) 22:05, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Dance jin.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Dance jin.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:Image:Dance jin.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of File:Dance jin.jpg

edit

The file File:Dance jin.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned image with no foreseeable encyclopedic use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
