Speedy deletion nomination of Pratik Sen

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Pratik Sen, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi
Appreciate your feedback and have reframed the article to ensure the point of view is neutral and will not be considered promotional.
Pratik Sen is an established actor and public figure and the intent of the article is to prepare a wikipedia page for him. It is not spam. All information collated about Pratik Sen is factual.
Will appreciate if the article is reinstated so that I may make the necessary edits / amendments and submit for review.

Replaceable fair use File:TeleAcademyAward2022 PratikSen with CM.jpeg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:TeleAcademyAward2022 PratikSen with CM.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 27 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thank you for the feedback, sharing the links and detailed clarification on how to resolve the issue. The Tele Academy Awards is arranged by West Bengal Government (India) to honour the artists of Tollywood (Bengali cinema/ Bengali language based film industry) for their contribution. This event was covered extensively by press media, photographers and freelancers apart from independent audience. Thats what you mean when you say it could be adequately covered by a freely licensed file - right?
Will it help if I trace this picture back to the photographer and credit the photographer? Example, Pic Credit - Publication Name: Photographer name or Pic Credit: Freelance Photographer: Name ? Thats a question to be directed to the Media copyright questions page - yes?
Also I see you have reduced the image size for the 3 images and indicated that the previous versions will be deleted June 3. Will the current version be deleted too after a few days?
Much appreciate your guidance. Thanks ---- AnamikaWrites (talk) 09:07, 28 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
I am unclear and confused why the article was declined. Request a more detailed feedback on what needs to be improved on the article to have it accepted for submission.
Pratik Sen is a notable person, a very well established film actor with significant coverage by independent and reliable sources including E-Times the online entertainment portal of Times of India, the 3rd largest newspaper publication in India; AnandaBazaar Patrika, the largest Indian-Bengali daily newspaper with over 1 million copies in circulation apart from other publications.
Prima facie, I believed that the guidelines defined by Wikipedia were met. I was conscious to maintain a neutral point of view, devoid of puffery. I have also included multiple references to articles published about Pratik Sen in notable Indian newspapers with huge national coverage. Some of the references on films that Pratik Sen has acted in are by authors who are verified by Wikipedia too.
Happy to edit and fix the issues you have identified. However, I will need your guidance on what needs to be fixed. Thanks ---- AnamikaWrites (talk) 17:02, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
I suggest that you forget about this draft, and focus on editing existing articles for a few months at least, before attempting to create a draft about some other topic. Creating a new article is the hardest thing to do in Wikipedia, for several reasons. --bonadea contributions talk 12:02, 19 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, AnamikaWrites! Having an article draft declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. Hi, I'd like that - to have experienced editors lend a hand to have the article on Pratik Sen published. Thanks ---- AnamikaWrites (talk) 05:54, 18 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
My edits to PS were to clean it up a bit. I know nothing about PS. Teahouse and Help Desk are places to ask for advice (don't ask same questions at both), but not for finding people to co-author the draft. Also, be aware that Times of India is not considered a reliable source reference by Wikipedia. David notMD (talk) 11:01, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the edits and the inputs. Definitely helps understand what is the ask.
The only thing that surprised me was The Times of India (TOI) not being considered a reliable source reference by Wikipedia. Apart from being the highest circulating English newspaper in India, every Wikipedia article/page on the Acting Icons or any other prominent Indian personality has references from TOI (Ratan Tata, Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Hasan to name a few ). Of course, the people I've mentioned have a pan-India / global body of work, hence are covered by multiple newspapers and have more reference sources. I will be mindful of the TOI perception. AnamikaWrites (talk) 13:27, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
See The Times of India, Paid news section, to understand why its value as a reliable source is suspect. David notMD (talk) 17:36, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi RPSkokie, thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.
The article in fact was edited and reframed to make it more neutral by one of the Wikipedia reviewers. Therefore, keen to get a better understanding of sections that still do not represent a NPOV. Also keen to understand,
- the evaluation and assessment of a subject warranting a Wikipedia article. While I do understand notability very well - I've read the section many, many times, I do believe Pratik Sen has sufficient notability in his line of work and industry to warrant a Wikipedia page like several of his peers and colleagues from the industry across regions. I have always considered Wikipedia as an encyclopaedia that is global and recognizes dynamics of a country, its diversity and high interest groups within that country/ language diaspora. Which is evident from Wikipedia pages created on artists who have just made their debut in the Indian film industry.
- The references used in the Draft:Pratik Sen are not created by me nor by the subject. The articles are published in very reliable news media. While publications like Times of India (TOI) is rated by Wikipedia to be inclined towards the ruling government of India, it cannot be the brush stroke for all articles published by TOI. By the same yardstick, the Indian Express and The Hindu are considered/perceived to be inclined to the opposition - but Wikipedia rates it as reliable source.
I am truly keen to have this article published and therefore any in-depth guidance or inputs with examples will be helpful.
Thanks ---- AnamikaWrites (talk) 15:18, 27 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Ravensfire. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Radaan Mediaworks seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
