Moustafa Kamel Mansour

Hi there. I noticed that you added the Arabic version of Karim Touzani's name to his article and hoped you might be able to do likewise for the Moustafa Kamel Mansour article please. Also, there appears to be numerous spellings of his first name in different sources: Moustafa, Mostafa, Mustapha etc. I wondered if, as an Arabic speaker, you knew if there was a preferred Arabic translation of the name (for example, Ukranians prefer Kyiv as the roman alphabet version of their capital, rather than the traditional Kiev). If so, it would probably be appropriate to rename the article to that spelling. Thanks Caledonian Place 11:31, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

That was quick! Thanks Caledonian Place 11:51, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
I think some random AOL user (195.93.21.131) has just dumped that info in 1978-79 in Scottish football and lost interest. I can understand why, to be honest, as the Category:Seasons in Scottish football articles are a bit of a slog. Most have been done but some in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s still require major work, which I, and others, undertake when we have the inclination. 1966-67 in Scottish football is the benchmark and hopefully the rest will eventually reach that standard. Please feel free to contribute if you want. Caledonian Place 13:15, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your support at RFA

I wasn't going to send thank-you cards, but the emotional impact of hitting WP:100 (and doing so unanimously!) changed my mind. So I appreciate your confidence in me, and hope you'll let me know if I can do anything for you in the future. Cheers! -- nae'blis 21:14, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Faten Hamama

Hi, Anas. Concerning the message you left me. I have made some minor edits to the article and nominated it as a featured article. I think it has a chance of 70-80% of success. However, even if it was not promoted, there will be some very useful feedback from other users. By the way, you have made excellent contributions on the article. Good work.

Hi, Anas. About the message you left me on my talk page:
  • I am really sorry for the fact that I nominated this article as featured. This is your article or more accurately you made the most important edits in the article not me. I totally forgot that you must nominate it. I was just enthusiastic and forgot that other users love to nominate the articles they contributed heavily in by themselves. I put a speedy deletion tag on this page.
  • I want you to know that I consider Syria as the closest country ever to my country Egypt. Syria fought with us the 1973 war and the two countries were once unified.
  • About the rating of the article. I didn't know that A rating needs a review. However, why didn't you rerate the article as GA? In my opinion it deserves A rating. Don't be afraid to nominate an article as featured. The article is very good indeed and remember that perfection is impossible.
  • About the talk page of the article. I restored the text written by you because I thought that the page was vandalized. However, it is your right to delete it according to Wikipedia policy. What I did to the templates was merely a rearrangement. I didn't delete anything.
  • Concerning the Al-al. We in Egypt never write al. We always write Al. Since the article is about an Egyptian actress then it should be written by using Al. A quick search in Answers.com shows Al and al. I think that al is used only in Gulf countries. Example: please see this comment in the article about President Anwar Al Sadat. Note that I didn't write this comment but another user did. Another example, I created the article about Zekra then another user moved it Thekra but since Zekra was Tunisian I thought that maybe in Tunisia they spell it differently. So, I am asking you to rewrite it using Al or to revert it to my version. Thank you.

My editor review

Thank you for participating in my editor review. I have 85% of my edits in November because my computer was broken down for a while. (Exactly between June 14 2006-June 25 2006 and June 26 2006-July 28 2006 and again between August 3-August 10 2006 and September 30 2006-November 4 2006. It is much, isn't it? However, I made a major repair to my computer and it is working fine now. That is the July edit counter is 2 and that of October is 0. However, I made some contributions during these periods from public computers without logging in to preserve the security of my password.) Thank you for drawing my attention to the AfD and MfD pages. I will start participating in them.

Re:Rating

Hi, Anas. I don't of course mind you calling me with my name but I am rather curious about how did you know it. The article you mentioned is now rated as B. I will be more careful concerning rating articles in the future. I plan to rate all 2200 unrated articles of WP Physics. Also about VandalProof, I was grated the permission to use it on November 27 2006. However, I didn't revert any vandalism with it until now because the vandalism I found was quickly reverted by other users before I can revert them. But I reverted vandalism manually about 7 times as this and this. Thank you for your advice concerning the WP:GAC.

RfA: Khukri

Just a quick note to say thanks for your support on my recent RfA. It became clear very quickly that my editing background was going to detrimental to my nomination. Having seen other recent RfA's fail once one or two admins opposed and others just piled on the vote, I decided it would save the ignominy if I withdrew my nomination. I don't intend to change the work I do as it's what I enjoy, so it'll be unlikely I'll apply again. Anyway thanks again for taking the time to review my nomination and giving your support. Hi, Anas!

Thanks for your support!!

Thank you for the comment that you left for me :). I appreciate your support, and I'm glad if I helped, even if in a minute way. Quite a number of people get snotty about my correcting a few of their mistakes, and most people overlook it, so your message was quite a nice change from the usual!

I hope that you have an equally good day as well.

Best Buy Wiki

Greetings Anas!

We need some help out with an ongoing issue with the Best Buy wiki. There is a user on there that is continually vandalising (in my opinion) the page with links to rants and unsourced information, and labeling it as "Consumer Protection". Your input would be much appreciated in this matter. The constant reverts of his "work" are getting old! Thanks!! B2bomber81 07:03, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, you have certainly deserved your barnstar! ..if you are looking for more work  ;-), may I recommend List of mayors of Jerusalem (few of the early Arab mayors have their name in Arabic) ..and Rashidi (where the 12 amirs could also do with Arabic script..)
And, if you feel like "cleaning up", may I recommend List of Arabs? The problem is that the lists are often double.... i.e. we have List of Algerians, List of Bahrainis, List of Iraqis etc, and then many/most of the same people listed in the List of Arabs. I suggest that when there is a national list, we just write, say; "see List of Egyptians"....but ofcourse we should make sure that everybody listed in List of Arabs are listed in the national list before we delete them. I did this with the List of Palestinians, but there are plenty of countries left; see the "talk"-page on the List of Arabs. Anyway; I wish you a nice holiday! As I've seen many Syria images uploaded here then deleted and some considered fair use while they are not, I created this image copyright tag especially for Syria. I want to know what you think.

You can find it here.

Muammar al-Gaddafi

Hi there Peter. The audio file of the pronunciation of Muammar's name is incorrect. There is a shadda on the d (in Arabic), which, by the way, is pronounced [th]. This will be tough

Hi, Anas. Nice to see you again. I would like to discuss some issues here.

  • First: Britannica is not the ultimate source of knowledge. It contains errors. See Wikipedia:Errors in the Encyclopædia Britannica that have been corrected in Wikipedia. Note that these are series errors not just spelling mistakes.
  • Second: You are dealing with Arabic as if all Arabic countries use the same dialect which is wrong. Each country has its own dialect. Again I say, we in Egypt never say al-Manfaluti but always Al Manfaluti or Al-Manfaluti. The al- is used only in Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries. You can say al-Qaeda but never al-sadat. Now imagine this, a new Wikipedia reader wants to find information about any Egyptian article but he discovers that the article is using Saudi transliteration instead of Egyptian transliteration. Please see Talk:Anwar Al Sadat#Change of Article Name required! Should read ANWAR AL SADAT Also note that, I created the article about Thekra as Zekra then some other Wikipedian moved it. I respected this because Thekra is not Egyptian, so, the article about her should be written in the dialect of her country. All what I want is to write Egyptian articles using Egyptian transliteration.
  • Third: Considering online sources, you know that most of the online sources here, talk of al-Qaeda, etc, so, they use al not Al. You can not find an online source for every Egyptian figure.
  • Fourth: Since you mentioned it, how can I change that policy? If the change requires voting then I think that I will be out numbered. May be in the future, when an enough number of Egyptians use Wikipedia we could change that policy. Wikipedia ranks world-wide as 12 but in Egypt ranks as 30.
  • Fifth: As for now, I reverted the article to its old name Mustafa Lutfi al-Manfaluti according to the manual of style. I will stop moving articles for this reason. Please inform me if there is any other article that needs reverting.
  • Sixth: You always seem to give valuable advice. Could you check my contributions to check for any other issues that you would like to inform me of?
  • Seventh: Don't worry if I make a mistake. I will not say: Correct it yourself but I will correct it myself. I here now announce that any mistake in my past edits will be corrected by me because my edits are my responsibility.

Thank you very much and happy eid (although late). --Meno25 17:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Another thing, how do you make the title of your user page Anas instead of User:Anas? Is this violating Wikipedia policies (because a new reader may think that your page is in the Main name space)? --Meno25 17:42, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
