Welcome to STiki !
Hello, Anderson9990, and welcome to STiki! Thank you for your recent contributions using our tool. We at STiki hope you like using the tool and decide to continue using it in the future. Here are some pages that you might find helpful: Here are some pages which are a little more fun:
We hope you enjoy maintaining Wikipedia with STiki! If you have any questions, problems, or suggestions don't hesitate to drop a note over at the STiki talk page and we'll be more than happy to help. Again, welcome, and thanks! West.andrew.g (developer) and DBigXray 06:58, 28 July 2012 (UTC) |
Thanks for the welcome to Stiki notice.--Anderson - what's up? 01:39, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
- I see you've discovered STiki. Be careful because STiki can often give you false positives. On my first day using it, it brought up a revert of vandalism. I wasn't being very careful, so I reverted it (thereby vandalizing Wikipedia myself). What was worse, was I automatically templated the vandal fighter who had made the original revert, warning them for vandalism. Before I could correct what I had done, another editor (using STiki ironically) reverted my edit and templated me for vandalism. It was pretty embarrassing. I think that's what they call "friendly fire". Anyway, be careful, and Good luck! P.S. Your edit notice is pretty scary ~Adjwilley (talk) 03:17, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
- that's to let vandals know if they vandalize this talk page, it will be reverted.--Anderson - what's up? 05:57, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Mysterytrey
Hey; I saw your commentary on Mysterytrey's request for rollback. So, a couple of things:
- Rollback, and most other permissions, are granted by admins. They're not elections, and so comments from non-admins are only useful insofar as they state objective fact (for example, "don't give this user autopatrolled because his articles have copyright issues"). Things like "I don't think you have enough experience", not so much; it's your own opinion. You're not the one adding done/notdone tags, so your opinion doesn't directly carry weight :).
- I'm not sure how tagging a lot of pages for deletion reflects badly on an application for rollback. In fact, I think it reflects very well. Ultimately, rollback and NPP both require the same skillset - being able to identify good things and bad things and distinguish between them. So it's not really a valid objection.
I, and I'm sure a lot of other admins, really appreciate it when users provide data we can use to make our decision. But for that data to be useful, it has to be objective - I'd be most grateful if you could limit your commentary to that :). Otherwise at best it's a waste of time, and at worse, it can be very demoralising to the editors requesting permissions. Ironholds (talk) 00:00, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
- noticed that, But as i am currently only just started monitoring there, I didn't know that was not a good comment. Thanks for that note.--Kindly, Anderson - what's up? 21:13, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
- That's okay; we should all be tolerant of well-intentioned mistakes :). Hope to see you around, and thanks for your efforts! Ironholds (talk) 21:17, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
CVUA
Hi there Anderson. I'm just wondering how you're getting on with your CVUA final exam. There's still some that you need to complete, and it has been a little while now. Do you intend to complete the course (which you are very close to doing)? ItsZippy (talk • contributions) 15:07, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
I'm having a little trouble finding 2 users to report. most of them, after being templated. stop.--Kindly, Anderson - what's up? 02:50, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
- Ok. See if you can finished the rest of the questions off for now, and we'll see where we are then. ItsZippy (talk • contributions) 15:05, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- There are still questions in the last section that need completing; do you think you could answer them? If you have any problems or questions, just let me know. ItsZippy (talk • contributions) 16:35, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for answering those questions. Now all that is left is the task to report two users to AIV appropriately. As you've said that most users stop vandalising after a warning and do not need to be reported, perhaps you could provide diffs of good reports from the past? Does that sound alright? ItsZippy (talk • contributions) 20:13, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, i'll get on to that right now.--Kindly, Anderson - what's up? 20:29, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for doing that. I've just finished marking your test and you got 70%, just 10% (3 marks) off passing. I've left a note on your academy page suggesting that we carry on for a little while longer so we can nail those areas, and then take another test in a few days (I've explained it more fully over at the page). WP:PERM
Hi. I'm always curious why relatively new users feel a need to jump right in and contribute to what are (essentially) admin areas, especially when they might not have even completed some training courses for more basic operations. There are plenty of places where users can be of help, such as of course CV, and NPP which again has a monumental backlog. Any thoughts on this? - I'm trying to get some feedback on how NPP can be improved. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:08, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- I noticed User:Armbrust works over there, And he's not an admin, Which made me think i could help there. But i'll stop doing that if you want me to.Kindly, Anderson - what's up? 07:12, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- Armbrust has 144,056 edits and has been around for four years and has created over 250 articles. He takes good care of the page and looks after the archiving; his comments, when he makes them, are brief but well researched and trusted by admins. If there were a genuine need for an official clerk he would be the #1 candidate. Our main concern (I'm not saying this is your case) is that many very new and very inexperienced users feel magically drawn to admin areas, although serious help is needed where they can be more productive, such as counter-vandalism and NPP if they wish to engage in maintennce work. If you would like to learn more about NPP, don't hesitate to ask me, or leave a note at User:Kudpung/NPP mentoring. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:49, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- I thought additional help would be appreciated.--Anderson - What's up? 01:06, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'm sure it was in good faith but as I mentioned before, there are rarely any backlogs, there are plenty of admins watching the pages, and non-admin comments are largely ignored anyway because the admin will do all the checks plus some that non-admins do not have access to. Templating Tips
Hey, Anderson - Just wanted to let you know to remember to always use the correct template when warning a user - namely, when a user removed a CSD template from an article, you warned them for "removing an AfD tag" - which wasn't what they removed! :) Consider instead using a more generic tag, like the one Twinkle provides. Thanks! Theopolisme TALK 03:50, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- That was not a speedy deletion template, As the article does not fall under any of the Criteria for speedy deletion.--Anderson - What's up? 04:01, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- Anderson, I believe Theopolisme is referring to this warning which you issued after the user in question removed a BLPPROD tag with this edit. In this case you should not have left the user a warning for removing an {{afd}} tag (for example, {{uw-afd1}}) as that is not what they did. Instead you should have either written the message yourself or used one of the BLP PROD warning templates (for example, {{uw-blpprod1}}). Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 05:05, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- I've changed that template.--Anderson - What's up? 22:04, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- Don't change it back, but that is really not the sort of thing you should do (that is, changing a message left on a discussion/talk), particularly since it's a week later (changing it to a better warning within a minute or two is permissible). If you want to clarify what you said then leave an indented message below the warning (etc) or strike it and leave the new message immediately after. Account identity
Hello Anderson, could you please at your earliest convenience log in under your user name and confirm the claimed affiliation of Anderson (Public) (talk · contribs)} with this account? I have seen enough spoofing incidents in my time here that my inclination is to just unilaterally block the "public" account - however I may have missed something, so I'll hold off for a bit. Thanks & regards! Franamax (talk) 04:29, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
- OK, good enough for not blocking you - however please do at your earliest convenience properly cross-link your accounts as described at #2 of WP:SOCK#NOTIFY so it is easily verifiable to any casual observer in future. It may have seemed obvious to you (well, obviously it was obvious to you :) but it would be best if you have the connection in plain sight for the future. T & r! Franamax (talk) 04:59, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
- That's okay, I accept that was a mistake. There what have been no reason to justify a block.--Anderson - What's up? 05:01, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
- You are correct that there was nothing up front to justify a block, which you may have noticed I didn't do anyway, right? But I did get your attention. :) Spoofing in general is a problem here, and spoofing through permission request pages is an ongoing issue, I caught one of those myself lately - so I'm comfortable with asking the supposedly related accounts to confirm themselves. Speaking of which, please put some cross-signed notes somewhere or otherwise make plain (beyond the simple fact that one page redirects to another) that these two accounts are related. It's a simple courtesy for all following readers. Thanks! Franamax (talk) 05:23, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Anderson, I urge you to do this as soon as possible. There are also userboxes for it. I usually make the request when granting a right, but in this case, while I had no reason to suspect any spoofery, I genuinely forgot to remind you to do it. In any case, all users with whom I have interacted are on my watchlist. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:27, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Conflict of interest
Hello.
On the talk page of 68.101.99.117 (talk · contribs), I noticed that you gave a warning for removal of content. I believe that more should have been used. I was about to revert this and leave a note in the edit summary, although you reached it before I did. I was going to note that the IP address traces back to the same location as the organization's origin, combined with the fact that the removal targeted negative material. See Tarbut V' Torah and http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?GetLocation&IpAddress=68.101.99.117. This I assess as a likely conflict of interest, and a COI warning should have been issued. 69.155.139.90 (talk) 04:40, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
- WP:COI clearly states that a COI is when someone adds info or External links containing their username. That edit was in fact, Section blanking.--Anderson (Public) (talk) 22:08, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
- How should we handle these highly suspicious removals, then? 69.155.139.90 (talk) 01:07, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- They should be treated just as section blanking, Or if you are suspicious of a sockpuppeteer operating under that IP, Then you can file a report at WP:SPI.--Anderson (Public) (talk) 01:05, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
WP:PERM
Hello, your help on WP:PERM is great but please do not do not make comments like votes or comments that an administrator would not notice on his/her own like "good candidate" or "knows the difference". Instead, please contribute using {{nao}} on requests saying things that will help an administrator and/or save an admin time. :) -- Cheers, Riley Huntley talk 01:26, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Anderson. I see Riley has beaten me to it. You're very new here yourself, and there is nothing really to be gained by admins from any clerking at all on those pages. You might wish to read this - from top to bottom. And if you need any help or advice, you know you can always come to my talk page. Best, Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:29, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Ok, you've been declined now by several admins. WP:PARENT aside, enough's enough. You're abusing the process.
You were asked already to wait. And not linking to Keilana's decline was deceitful.
Receiving extra tools requires trust, and you've abused it. With that in mind, I'm also removing rollback.
Let's give this 6 months now, before again asking for any additional tools. And I'd strongly recommend asking Keilana's advice before doing so.
And be warned, if you try to "sneak under the radar" again, you may be blocked. - jc37 07:42, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Unfair removal of rollback
Regarding JC's removal of rollback, The removal was unfair, Because i was not aware i needed more experience before obtaining the reviewer right. The removal reason was Abuse of trust. I don't see how this is fair,Because i have already discussed how much experience i should have with another admin before being granted the reviewer right. Usually rollback is revoked when someone does not know the difference between good faith and vandalism edits.--Anderson - What's up? 19:12, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Anderson, if you'd like to have community input on JC's action, I recommend you post on one of the administrators' noticeboards. I personally agree with his decision *for now*, but if you really want to have his decision reviewed, that's the course you should take. Keilana|Parlez ici 21:02, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
