Tip: copy the entire Wikipedia article to a text editor and edit it there.

Alternatively,if you don't feel comfortable editing on a text editor, click on the "Show preview" button as soon as you start editing. Doing that should generally let you recover your work if your own browser window (or even computer I found) shuts down unexpectedly. However, I don't know if it would have worked today during the complete outage of the Wikipedia servers (a rare event - you were particularly unfortunate). Hi - it is great to have new editors helping out, but I'm not sure about some of your copyedits at this article. You've added the word "the" in places where it isn't needed, and removed the word "with" where it should have been kept (in medicine a person presents "with" a rash). I hope you won't be offended if I or others hop in and tinker with your editing. As i say, it is great to have others helping with articles. hamiltonstone (talk) 12:16, 6 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Welcome and thanks for starting. I know little about grammar and will go with what you two think. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 15:36, 6 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi Andrea - I'm happy to see this conversation and your post on Doc James's page: while I certainly agreed with some of your changes (like avoiding "-ing ... -ing" I wasn't altogether comfortable with others, and I wanted to avoid getting into lengthy discussions over such details (as you yourself rightly put it). If Hamiltonstone agrees, I intend gradually to copyedit my way through the article: it would be great to have more eyes on the changes, as I'm by no means immune to "complicatese". So do let me know if you feel anything needs simplifying for clarity. Best, —Misty(MORN) 20:07, 6 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Have protected the article in question again. Let me know if you want to make any further changes. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 04:45, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi - Thank you for the suggestion about using a text editor. What worked in the end was ticking off minor edits and THEN Save page. Thank you also for welcoming me as a new editor. I think it is reasonable to say that there are changes that should be made because the original clearly requires them, and then there are changes that are up for discussion, or should not be made. Clearly this article is worth working on, to iron out some minor grammar glitches, but I am impartial to whether my changes are accepted or improved on, I mean not offended if not considered ok. All the best

Good to have you aboard, Andrea. A small detail which isn't intuitive at first: Could you try to remember to sign at the end of your talkpage posts by adding 4 tildes (or by clicking the radio button with the "pencil" icon)? Cheers, —MistyMORN 13:43, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
