- Dear Dewet,
- during the preparation my powerpoint presentation about "Geology of Cape Town and Cape Peninsula" I used the information of the
- wikipedia page "Cape Fold Belt".
- But I have a problem with the picture of the Agulhas Sea" with the "cape supergroup" sediments at the bottom. Obviously the ocean contains a lot of water, so I was assuming that it is a rather deep ocean with a few sedimnets. But I learnt from other sites in the internezt, that the "cape supergroup" sediments were dominated by sand! Sand can only be deposited in the near of a shore and it needs flowing water for the transport. Obviously the sediments of the complete Cape Supergropup will account for many many cubic kilometers, dominated by sand.
- I have constructed an alternative picture of the Agulhas Sea" with small layer of ocean water on top and a thick layer of sediment underneath.

License tagging for Image:Stellenbosch WC ZA.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Stellenbosch WC ZA.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

editHi, I assume "(pop:48,346)" in the Hermanus article mean "population of 48,346"? Do you have a source where this number comes from? Thanks. Optimale Gu 11:47, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Copyright status
editHello there, you have uploaded several images with no copyright information. Would you care to provide it? Otherwise, they are likely to be deleted off of Wikipedia, and they are great so wouldn't want that to happen. Páll (Die pienk olifant) 06:34, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Worcester WC ZA.JPG
editThanks for uploading Image:Worcester WC ZA.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.
Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nilfanion (talk) 21:19, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:CTICC.jpg
editThank you for uploading Image:CTICC.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Unspecified source for Image:Johannesburg_GP_ZA.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Johannesburg_GP_ZA.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:31, 18 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 03:31, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

If you created this image yourself, please look at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#For image creators, select one of those tags, and add it to the image. Hi. When you uploaded Image:N1 Worcester.jpg, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.
This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.
If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.
If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, and cannot make the image compliant with Wikipedia:Non-free content, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week. All other non-free images must follow these rules.
Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. Aksibot 07:08, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Greetings from Norway
editHi Andresdewet. I see you take many great pictures from South Africa. I am writing about Western Cape in the norwegian (bokmål) wikipedia, and I would like to use as many of your pictures as I can. Both in Worcester, Western Cape and Overberg there are great pictures you have taken, but I can't use them since they're not on Commons. Could you upload them there, please? That would make articles of the area in other languages of the wikipedia much better. Shauni 14:31, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
