License tagging for Image:Net3.jpg

Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Notability of Energy Matters magazine

I mentioned it to Roger Tredre and of course you're right, Cantab took over publication of an existing EM as a moeny-making operation. Hi, and thank you for your note. Cantab was unfortunately not okay and hence not probably a good model to follow. Not only is it filled with unsourced information in violation of the verifiability policies, but it was also seriously biased and remains of questionable notability itself. I have attempted to address some of this within the article and flagged it for further attention in the hopes that these issues will be resolved. Meanwhile, I hope that I can clarify the notability requirements for you in regards to the Energy Matters magazine article.

Wikipedia's notability guidelines set forth that "A topic is presumed to be notable if it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". Further down, the policy expands that "[t]he common theme in the notability guidelines is the requirement for verifiable objective evidence to support a claim of notability. Substantial coverage in reliable sources constitutes such objective evidence, as do published peer recognition and the other factors listed in the subject specific guidelines". In order to demonstrate that these publications are notable, verification should be supplied in the form of reliable, secondary sources discussing and documenting the magazines.

As far as the comparison between the two articles is concerned, their fates are not interrelated. While Cantab may have gone unnoticed, it is just as likely as Energy Matters magazine to be assessed for deletion if notability is not established. --Moonriddengirl ^(talk) 02:57, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
