[edit]
Hello, Angelicairons. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Nigel Mason, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. We ask that you:
- Avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors
- Disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI)
- Propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the Edit Request Wizard), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions
- Avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming)
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation for any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

I have sent you a note about a page you started
[edit]Hi Angelicairons. Thank you for your work on Nigel Mason. Another editor, Ldm1954, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
The continued addition of WP:PEACOCK material which we do not permit plus the editing pattern strongly suggests either that the page is autobiographical or that there is a major COI.
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Ldm1954}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

- @Ldm1954: Thank you Dear Dr Ldm1964 for reviewing the article and for the guidance. I understand the concern.
- To clarify, I am not Professor Mason and this is not autobiographical. I do have a professional academic connection with him, which I disclosed during the AfC process. I am not paid by Professor Mason, the University of Kent, or any related organisation to edit the article.
- I also understand the concern about WP:PEACOCK and possible overly promotional wording. My intention was to add sourced academic and institutional context. I will follow your advice avoid making further substantive direct edits to the article and will instead propose any additions or corrections on the article talk page, with reliable published sources, for uninvolved editors to review.
- If there are specific passages that you think should be removed or made more neutral, I am happy to defer to your judgement or discuss them on the article talk page. Thank you so very much again. Angelicairons (talk) 12:42, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not a place to put a resume extolling an academic's achievements.
- Please avoid WP:WEASEL phrases such as
edited volumes, book chapters and review articles
. - Admin positions or grants mean little, all successful academics have those.
- Resume material does not belong here.
- Things like his OBE mean far more than a section extolling his publications. The OBE is an independent verification of notability, please read the key policy WP:42 (although academics are not held to such a strict standard for verifiability in WP:NPROF).
- If there are specific things you would like to see added you should use the {{edit COI}} template. It will be reviewed and may, or may not be included.
- Please avoid WP:WEASEL phrases such as

- @Ldm1954: Dear Dr Ldm1954 Thank you for the clear guidance and I will follow them. Angelicairons (talk) 13:24, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
- N.B., one thing that raises major red flags is the fact that the only edits you have made except for one in 2024 are to Nigel Mason. Ldm1954 (talk) 13:19, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Ldm1954: Dear Dr Ldm1954 Thank you so very much for your care about the page. I confirm I am not Professor Mason and I am not paid by him, the University of Kent, or any related organisation. I have a professional academic connection with him, which I shared during the AfC process.
- I understand the COI concern and will not make further substantive direct edits. For any future suggestions, I will use the article talk page with COI and leave review to uninvolved editors. Angelicairons (talk) 13:30, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
