Welcome! I noticed this piece you wrote. For Sonia Greene, I encourage you to find some published sources about her; this will be the only way to ensure it does not get deleted, as everything in Wikipedia must be verifiable based on reliable sources.--ragesoss 01:34, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Your Wikipedia activism article
editHi Annalee and welcome to Wikipedia. I read your Wikipedia activism article. Unlike just about everywhere else where the term "notability" is used, Wikipedia written guidelines do not use notability in the sense of importance. Wikipedia Notability uses notability to mean "significant coverage in reliable sources". Confusing? Yes! Many people on Wikipedia operate with the idea that "Wikipedia notability" means importance. And why shouldn't they. The common use of the term notability means importance. However, many others use it to mean "significant coverage in reliable sources" as stated at Wikipedia general notability guideline. It's too bad that you were caught up in this long term confusion so soon after joining Wikipedia. Please don't be discouraged by this. I have written a variety of biography article and gravitate towards writing about obscure people, technologies, ideas, and events. If you have any questions, are in need of assistance, or would like to receive a friendly comment or two, please feel free to post on my talk page. -- Jreferee 23:35, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- As an aside to this, I think it is pertinent to look at the version of Sonia Greene that was actually redirected to Lovecraft: "In 1918, Sonia Haft Greene was an energetic and ambitious Jewish émigré with literary ambitions...." Articles of this sort (and the Austin Grossman article you carefully recreated was in a similar condition when it came to asserting the importance of the topic) are routinely deleted/redirected, which is why we need users like you who are willing to take the time to properly create them and make sure topics like these are accurately covered. I loved your article. You would not believe the things I've gone through here. So many people have been sanctioned for such small things. If you think the way wikipedians treat articles is bad, the way they treat people who fall out of favor with some administrators is much worse. If you want some great source material to share with your readers, I strongly suggest User:Kim Bruning/Lost functionalities by an old-timer who has seen some treasured capabilities here disintegrated by "process." You will especially like the section on submitting new articles. BenB4 17:37, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
I also love your article. I think Jreferee is conflating "notability" & "verifiability." I'm pretty much sick of both of them & left with the idea of doing original research elsewhere—which research I never really did, unfortunately. I would love this site to spawn some kind of "WikiResearch." Or perhaps I wouldn't. Ventifax (talk) 22:56, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
