Copywritten content
editHi! I wanted to give you a head's up. I received a notification that you'd used content taken from another source. I saw that you had posted the vision and mission statement for the Vivien T. Thomas Medical Arts Academy word for word. Sometimes we can post statements like that on Wikipedia, but they have to be fairly brief, like 1-3 sentences long. Anything over that is just a little too much and is usually considered to be a copyright violation. Another thing to be careful about is that in many cases the vision and mission statements will be written in a fairly promotional manner that can make an article seem unintentionally promotional, especially if this makes up the bulk of the content.
This can be kind of confusing at times since some of the other articles have these statements posted, but they're usually fairly brief enough to squeak by as an acceptable quote. In this case I think that you'll most likely have to sum up the vision statement in your own words and also likely do the same for the mission statement. This is one of those tricky areas, is all.
Give me a head's up on my user page if you need any help or tag me by writing {{u|Shalor (Wiki Ed)}} in your response here. Cheers! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 23:50, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
Shalor, thanks. So even if I cite from the source and its information that cannot not be changed like a mission statement--should I not put it on there? I can delete if need be. {{u|Shalor (Wiki Ed)}} Antionetomlin (talk) 20:32, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for December 7
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Variation (linguistics), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ebonics (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 19:58, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Antione Tomlin
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Antione Tomlin, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. jd22292 (Jalen D. editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself, at Antione Tomlin. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 22:08, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
