I am new here. Hope to make occasional contributions and learn my way gradually.

editHi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
I noticed your recent edit to Montagu Marks does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
- User contributions
- Recent changes
- Watchlists
- Revision differences
- IRC channels
- Related changes
- New pages list and
- Article editing history
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! ukexpat (talk) 18:03, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.--Orange Mike | Talk 00:12, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

My apologies to Administrators who maybe trying to locate my block in the logs, but I cannot find the unblock-auto code. I have tried to follow the guidance that appears after my "Request Reasons", which says "Blocked editor: Please also follow these instructions to help administrators locate your block in the logs." I have followed the instructions as far as I can. 1. My account name is visible on the top right of the page so I assume I am logged in. 2. trying to edit the sandbox shows I am still blocked. 3. I cannot see the code generated for me under the "IP blocked?" section. I have searched for it in the "What do I do now?" section, but since I cannot see it I also cannot click a "show" button to show the text. 4. Therefore I cannot paste the code at the bottom of this talk page. Brandstormasia (talk) 16:58, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
- You have used the right template - the autoblock one is for people caught in someone else's block, not those directly blocked. As to your link, if you are the author or owner of a site, you should not link to it yourself. This applies to anybody and any institution. I've seen some top museums and libraries fall foul of that. Also, your current username is not acceptable because it seems to represent an organisation - but you don't have to use your real name. So long as it's not an organisation name or someone very well known. You can be 'Herbert Sparkle', 'DSR674J', or even 'Fairy Floss'. (We did have an admin called 'Boing! said Zebedee', and still have one called 'Catfish Jim and the Soapdish'.) Peridon (talk) 18:30, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your clarification. Regarding the inappropriate link I want to remove it. Can someone unlink it? I do not think I can since I am blocked. It is in Reference 5.Brandstormasia (talk) 04:06, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
