Re: Your email about my edit at National Tsing Hua University

edit

Hi @Aotfs2013:: Thank you for the email, I hope it is okay that I am responding on your talk page since I am not very familiar with emails through Wikipedia. That aside, I really appreciate you bringing this edit of mine to my attention, because I believe parts of it were in error.

In particular, when I leave "ce" or "copyedit" as an edit summary, it is generally a minor edit, and in this case I even checked the box to call the edit "minor". What I know for sure was intentional was me adding a tag for traditional Chinese (lang zh-Hant) and fixing the quotations (MOS:STRAIGHT); these are common edits that I make and indeed are quite minor. However, I do not believe many of the other edits were intentional.

In particular, I do not have any specific knowledge about NTHU, and I had not done any research about the school, so there would be no reason for me to change the enrollment, the colleges/institutes, etc. I also do not believe I was even aware of your edits to them beforehand. So, I sincerely apologize that I undid your constructive updates regarding these, as this was totally not my intention.

My best guess for what happened is that I loaded the NTHU Wikipedia page before you made your edits, and then actually edited the page after your edits were saved. So then when I saved my edits, it published the previous version of the page, including my edits but removing yours. If this is the case, I would have expected an edit conflict window to appear, but I do not recall seeing one. And I usually review my edits before submitting, so I do not think I noticed anything out of the ordinary then. Of course, it could totally have been a mistake on my part throughout this process, so I will definitely be more careful in the future about editing "stale" pages and reviewing my edits more carefully.

Either way, I apologize about my edit, as I had no reason to undo your changes, and going off my edit summary and minor label, that was absolutely not my intention. I will work on restoring your edits now. Thank you again! ChromeGames923 (talk · contribs) 16:54, 19 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
