I Am Sasha Fierce.../ Cover-arts

Hi there, i noticed you've questioned why some cover-arts were removed from the page. Although i did not personally remove them i can explain why it happened. Wikipedia is foundation and because of this and its legal status images must pass US and international copyright. As an encyclopedia wikipedia can use cover arts as a non-free media. An album's cover add's to a user's understanding and illustrates a concept. Under US copyright law this use allows us to reproduce cover-arts on album pages.

However by using more than one similar cover-art we void this copyright. Unfortunately the deluxe and platinum editions of the album have similar cover-arts with beyonce in a different pose - something which can be explained in words. Under these circumstances it is against the law for wikipedia to input the deluxe and platinum edition album covers. We can no longer argue that including the additional covers would further add to a user's understanding because the cover's are too similar to the original.
