Niklaren Goldeye

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Niklaren Goldeye, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. — iridescenti (talk to me!) 16:29, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

It says that I should respond on my talkpage so I'll respond here. I've added more information to the page; a lot of it comes from the books themselves. I've also thought about merging this page with The Circle of Magic page under the section of Niklaren Goldeye. The only problem I have with that is the fact that this page seems more detailed than any of the sections there. If you could give me any feedback, that'd be great. I'll remove the prod for the moment since it's now clear what it's about. It still needs sourcing - to be a Wikipedia article, you need to show that the character is notable rather than just the book. I won't propose deleting it again, but be aware that if someone else stumbles on it they'll be likely to do so until it's sourced — iridescenti (talk to me!) 18:28, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

FAD Assessments

We seem to be tripping up over each other, but just so you know - FAD does recognise Importance as well as Class, although it isn't in the Template - yet. And it's always a good idea to put in a {{reqphoto|food|in=the United States}} or equivalent tag if there's not one there yet. As it happens I'm just coming to the end of an assessment marathon of 1000 or so FAD articles, so you needn't worry about these last 30 or so - I've got them already loaded up in AWB and ready to go :-)) Cheers FlagSteward 01:50, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Glad you took the above in good heart, it almost felt like I was trying to keep the assessments to myself - anything but. Your contributions are much appreciated, you just chose an unfortunate time to start just as I was in full flow with AWB, I just didn't want you to waste your time when it could be spent doing other things (boy does the Food project need things doing..... Which was kinda the point of nailing these assessments, to start setting priorities.) Anyway, I've got the statistics bot running now, so we'll see what it says. Project news Elections are now taking place for coordinators of the project for the next six months. Any editors interested in seeking a coordinator position, or who want a say in who is selected, should indicate as much here. Member news The project has currently 381 members, 69 joined & 0 leavers since the start of March 2008. Other news The project's long-time lead coordinator, Kevinalewis, has announced he is not standing as a candidate for another term in that capacity. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to him for the extraordinary work he has done for this project. To Kill a Mockingbird and El Señor Presidente were both recently promoted to Featured Article status. This brings the novel FA count to 14! It has been suggested that WikiProject Sword of Truth be merged into WP:NOVELS, perhaps as a task force. Task force news The Shannara WikiProject was merged into the project as the Shannara task force. Anyone who can help would be appreciated. Two inactive projects were converted into task forces, so Chronicles of Narnia task force and Lemony Snicket task force have been created. People interested in the aforementioned subjects are encouraged to support the new task forces. (Thank to Wassupwestcoast for the tip) Novel related news The science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke died on 19 March aged 90. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Díaz won both the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for 2007. Current debates There is a discussion regarding further task forces for other genres of fiction now taking place here. WikiProject Novels is currently holding a roll call, which we hope to have annually. Hi there Applejaxs! I've noticed you have yourself listed as a member of the Food and Drink Wikiproject. Unfortunately it looks like the project has been slowly sliding into inactivity except for a couple of people. That makes me a sad potato, and nobody likes a sad potato amirite?

If you'd like to turn my frown upside down, can you do two small things?

Second, go to the project talkpage and participate in a discussion about how to make the project more active, and how to go about making articles in our area of interest a lot better.

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge!
