Sources
editWhy have you been adding http://www.library.unlv.edu/arch/buildings/ as a source for an article you have never edited? I am considering reverting most of these changes as spam. Since they were not a source for any of the material they should not be listed as being a source. If you wish to add material from that site, please use the proper cite template and include the information with a reference. Vegaswikian 05:23, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hello,
- The head librarian of the Architecture Studies Library at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas has had numerous research assistants over the years, who dig out whatever material can be found on each one of the buildings and that is why I've added the ASL pages as a source of information. These pages also have current photos of the structure which is useful to the viewer of the Wikipedia site.
- As you suggest it would be better to create a category of "external links" for the ASL information, although the ASL pages may be considered as a definitive, established resource, usually including a substantial bibliographic reference list within the page. (I am not sure why you would consider this spam). Thanks for the comment. --Archstaff 16:40, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- Regarding the note on "tone" on the ASL article. Thanks there too. I've tried to adjust the tone although I really want the article to relfect that the ASL is a great resource for both architectural education, as well as providing access to architecture in Las Vegas. That is one of the reasons we listed the staff, since they are the best of all possible resources when it comes to finding architecture related information.--Archstaff 18:39, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- I added a welcome with some information to the top of this page. Those sections are good ones for you to look at. As to the tone, that article really read like an advertisement for the library and the staff. All encyclopedia articles need to maintain a netural point of view and in my opinion that article did not. As a general guideline, if you work somewhere or are involved, don't write the article or make significant changes. Read WP:COI since those edits are probably a conflict of interest. You may also want to look at WP:NOT since that information was also what is considered a directory.
- You may also want to consider joining The Las Vegas Wikiprojct which could use some new life. Vegaswikian 19:21, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
