Your "move" of Church of the Holy Family to Church of the Holy Family (Singapore)

edit

Please do not "move" pages by copy and pasting them to a new article name. That will damage the history of the article, which is required to be preserved under Wikipedia's GFDL license. Instead, use the "move" option which will do everything nicely and properly for you. Read Wikipedia:How to move a page for more information.

I have listed the page as "wrongly done page move, to be repaired" for an administrator's attention. Kimchi.sg 16:17, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries - use them :)

edit

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Kimchi.sg 06:22, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Whoops again. I'll keep that in mind too. Thank you very much. (= Ariedartin 06:25, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Guitarist deletions

edit

It is almost impossible to imagine a lead guitarist better known than Hendrix, or a band more notable than the Who, and there is absolutely nothing US-specific about this. If anything, both were even more popular on the other side of the Atlantic, and certainly far better known internationally than many of the names you left in (Alexander Kapranos?). I find your judgement in editing that list very questionable. Also, given that I'm not American, your accusation of a US bias on my part would be funny were it less offensive. PurplePlatypus 04:42, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

You forget the other side of the Pacific. The only time I ever saw Jim Hendrix's name was in a Time magazine, and that was only in passing mention in an article regarding a deceased left-handed guitarist. I sincerely apologise if I have offended you in any way. I only intend a view that is as internationally-minded as possible. There is no problem with Wikipedia articles on bands or band members with localised reputations, but that is not what Lead guitarist is about. Ariedartin JECJY 05:17, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

NOR is "No Original Research". A statement such as "perhaps it is broken" is already indicative of No Original Research. If you need to place a hypothesis such as that, you will need a citation to back it up. Ariedartin JECJY Talk 15:04, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Strat.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Strat.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Regarding Christian views on contraception

edit

I believe the Wikipedia policy is targeted toward material that is doubtful or harmful. To me, the material deleted from the article Christian views on contraception was credible, and I do not currently see how it could be construed as harmful. I had interpreted the fact tag as a request for sources rather than a step on the path to deletion. I assume the editor who had been doing extensive work on the article had used that interpretation also: (s)he tagged the material but had not made any efforts to remove it, and the talk page currently has a request for more citations without implying that uncited material should be deleted.

We're all here to make Wikipedia better, and as frustrating as different editing styles may be, I think that ultimately they are the reason Wikipedia is so successful. For example, your deletion of the material in question prompted me to spend time looking for sources, and now the article is better cited. End result: a plus for Wikipedia.

As an aside, I did not add the material in question. I would like to think that I source most material that I add to Wikipedia, especially things as easily sourced as those two statements. Lyrl Talk Contribs 17:03, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Palestine TfD

edit

I hate to keep bothering you like this, but I think there may be a bit of confusion here. This isn't an attempt to delete the template - TfD is merely the technical process used to rename a template, much like CfD is the means of renaming a category. Right now you are actually opposing a renaming, even though you stated you are in favour of such a move (might I be so presumptuous to suggest you change your vote?). Cheers, TewfikTalk 18:36, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image:Tele.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Tele.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Abu Badali 17:18, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please stop major changes in articles formatting

edit

You seem to change style of formatting of every article you edit, removing spaces used to format headers and distinguish paragraphs and parts of article, i.e. you make

==Header==

from

== Header ==

That leads to unnecessary crumbling of article's history with lots of diffs - official Wikipedia policy says that boths styles are acceptable and it heavily recommends to stick to whatever style an article uses for minimal diffs. Moreover, all automatic editing tools I know of maintain style with spaces.

Please revert articles you've changed to their original spacing style. --GreyCat 09:05, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

This message is a test to check to see if members of the Warhammer 40K Project are still online, active and interested in helping the project. If you are no longer interested in the project all you need to do is...nothing! If you don't respond to this I'll take your name off the list and you'll never here from us again. If you're the proactive type you can remove the name yourself or talk to me and I'll do it.

If you are still interested in helping out the 40K project or otherwise still want to be listed there you can say so in response to this message on your talk page or on mine. Alternately you can add our new userbox ({{User WikiProject Warhammer 40,000}}) to your userpage and I'll take that as a response. The userpage doesn't automatically include people in a category of members yet, but it might in the future.

We've assessed most of the articles in the project on the Version 1.0 assessment scale (the table on the project page should take a few days to update) but we need to push to get the core articles in the project up to GA status. Thanks for all your help. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help the project along. Protonk (talk) 21:12, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Church of the Holy Family, Singapore

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Church of the Holy Family, Singapore, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

tagged with reference concerns for years, no indication of notability

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. From the Members

Welcome to the Tenth issue of the WikiProject Christianity newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.

It has been a long time since the last coordinators election. There is a lot for people to do, and I certainly would welcome seeing any individuals with an interest in such a position put themselves forward as candidates. I in particular would very much like to see some degree of "specialization" in the coordinators, so that, for instance, we might have someone knowledgable about some of the specific Christian faith traditions or other main subjects, like Orthodoxy, Lutheranism, Mormonism, the Jehovah's Witnesses, art, theology, and so on. If any parties who have experience with some of our faith- or- subject-based content would be interested in being candidates, I would love to see them do so. Please feel free to take part in the discussion regading what the minimum number of category items is, and how to deal with the non-qualifying categories, on the General Forum page.

Fair use rationale for File:CHF backdrop2.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:CHF backdrop2.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:05, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Possibly unfree File:Oldholyfam.jpg

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Oldholyfam.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

File permission problem with File:CHF SG christmas 2003.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:CHF SG christmas 2003.jpg, which you've sourced to http://www.veritas.org.sg/g2/photos/oldholyfam/bckdrop2.htm. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 02:12, 30 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wikiproject United Nations: We need you!

edit

Dear Ariedartin, I noticed your name was under the participants' list of WikiProject United Nations. I wanted to invite you to contribute to the advancement of this project. Here's how you can do so: 1. Select the latest CC BY SA publications for which no articles have been created yet available here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_United_Nations/Open_Access_text/Education_publications 2. Follow the instructions available here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Adding_open_license_text_to_Wikipedia 3. Add the text to Wikipedia (either by creating new articles or adding content to existing ones). Since these are available under CC BY SA, you can copy/paste content and/or edit if need be. 4. Attribute the text using the 'Free-content attribution' template in the 'Sources' section. 5. Add your contribution in the table here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_United_Nations/Open_Access_text/Education_publications Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! Looking forward to working with you on enriching Wikipedia, one article at a time:)! C.recalde — Preceding unsigned comment added by C.recalde (talkcontribs) 15:17, 6 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
