If so, look at the List of football players with dual nationality now. — Ash063 12:33, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Talk pages

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Princess Leia Organa are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. Adding ethnic categories to footballers' pages

edit

I reverted four of your edits as there was no evidence that the category was correct. Remember that categories, like everything else here, have to be reliably sourced. Best wishes, --John (talk) 16:49, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what you're talking? please tell me..

List of Swiss football players with dual nationality

edit

Why did you remove Petric and Rakitic? They both have the Swiss nationality. --Leyo 21:26, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Both of them have played for Croatia. So they're not Swiss footballers. I followed the example given by someone in the talk page: John Barnes was born in Jamaica, but he played for England national team, so he was listed in English footballers with Jamaican nationality, not Jamaican footballers. Ario_ManUtd 14:34, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

You are talking about Talk:List of football players with dual nationality? This may make sense for List of football players with dual nationality, because the list would become very long, if any player is listed under every country he has its nationality. This means that every player is listed just once in the article. However, this is not the case for List of Swiss football players with dual nationality (and similar articles), because such players would not be listed at all. If your rule would apply, then Rakitic could have been listed in the article until he played the first time for Croatia some months ago. Other players would have to be removed as soon as they have played for the first time in national team of their other country. I think that this rule does not make sense. Another case would be if the article was named "List of Swiss football national team players with dual nationality". So please, add them back on. Thanks. --Leyo 09:21, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes that is what I'm talking...Please notice this :

We should include players who:

   * can trace their origins to a foreign country
   * have gained nationality after living in a foreign country
   * were born in a foreign country

Players should be listed under the country they chose to represent e.g. John Barnes is listed under England rather than Jamaica because he played international football for England.

Players who, before FIFA rule changes, represented more than one country (e.g. Alfredo di Stefano) should be listed unfer all countries they played for BUT players who playes for one team at youth level and another at full level should only be listed under the country they represented at full level. GiantSnowman

It would be easier if we use this rule. If you prefer by your own way,add them back..

My opinion is that a) we should merge all the subpages into the main page, and that b) players should be listed ONLY under the nation which they opted to represent. GiantSnowman (talk) 13:01, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Major changes planned...

edit

While I still think having such a page is a great addition to Wikipedia, the page is vastly under referenced and repeats itself all the time. Therefore over this coming weekend I shall embark on a major overhaul of the page, which will include the following changes:

  1. Merger of all the sub pages into the main page
  2. Removal of ALL unfeferenced players
  3. Change in format (see talk page)

If there any major objections or suggestions then please let me know ASAP. Many thanks, GiantSnowman (talk) 19:46, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, by 'unreferenced player' I mean a player whose claim to second nationality doesn't have any background from an external website. GiantSnowman (talk) 18:56, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
The subpages are still there, they simply redirect to the main page now. GiantSnowman (talk) 18:31, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Scotland under 21

edit

I am not sure what you are asking for exactly but if you want BBC reports from the 2007–08 season they are listed here. If you want reports before that I can't help, as far as the BBC is concerned, but you can take a look at the UEFA Under-21 history section where you will find decent match reports.

You need to find WP:RS - simply linking Indonesian websites is not enough - otherwise its gonna get deleted (again) - if you have english - try the google english website for any trace of a WP:CITE to help WP:V and WP:N issues - otherwise some enthusiastic editor will put it through again - and you will get a bad reputation if you create too many deleted pages :) SatuSuro 12:25, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kalau mau artikel untuk hidup lama daripada hari ini - dengan editor dari luar - harus bisa lihat sedikit atau tanpa sources dan coba speedy delete - saya mencari dapat RS sekarang - tetapi - harus hati hati dengan orang berhubung dengan indonesia idol - sebab semua informasi di dalam proyek itu indonesian saja - sorry my english is better than my indonesian ok? (mohon maaf kalau saya kurang jelas) SatuSuro 12:33, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Law Adam

edit

It raises an interesting question. Law Adam was Netherlands-born, so he obviously qualifies for the name of the existing category, but he was not born in present-day Netherlands, so he wouldn't qualify for the category according to what you had in mind. I have raised this issue on the WikiProject Football, to get some community input and outside opinion. You are invited to comment, at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Footballers who played for other national teams. Aecis·(away) talk

I have removed the definition/scope you had added to Category:Netherlands-born footballers who played for other national teams. It is clear from the discussion at the WikiProject that there is no consensus for it yet. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia is a community project. Our basis is consensus. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
