Welcome!

Hello, Arkpro, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Thanks for uploading File:Ocean Guardian - Shark Shield - Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:36, 23 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Arkpro I have reverted all your edits you made today to Ocean Guardian (Shark Shield), Shark barrier and Shark attack prevention. All your edits appear to be promoting Ocean Guardian related products and deleting information that is negative to Ocean Guardian. I also note that you have previously been requested to advise any conflict of interest on your Talk page and you have failed to do so. I am concerned that you have a conflict of interest as per WP:Conflict. Happy to discuss. Ilenart626 (talk) 10:57, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Post from Arkpro on User talk:ilenart626 page copied below for completness:

Hi llenart626, thank you for your message below. I don't believe any negative information was removed related to Ocean Guardian in these edits or promotional material added. The additions and edits related directly to the company's announcement of an electrical shark barrier, added to the company's page and shark barrier page, and the other edits based on published research related to the technology efficacy which was added to the relative sections in the company and shark attack prevention. All factual supportive data references to additions and edits where provided. The only historical negative information edit I have made was a fictitious refence to people dying wearing Ocean Guardian devices, and to resolve this I added a new section that detailed the factual reference details of shark attacks related to shark shield technology. I do not have a conflict, and the information I'm providing to support readers knowledge is not promoting material, it is factual supported data. I'd argue the other way, that their are parties attempting to discredit their safety technology which a growing body of research clearly supports saves lives. Please review again the edits made in light of the above to reinstate, Thanks.
Hi Arkpro, thanks for confirming you do not have a conflict. To avoid this issue in your future edits I would suggest you update your user page. You do not need to include very much, refer to my own User:Ilenart626 user page.
Regarding your edits, I would suggest that including Ocean Guardian claims and referencing Ocean Guardian websites should be minimised to ensure a WP:NOPV is maintained. I would place more emphasis on third party information and references.
I agree that there are lots of edits that are pushing various technologies. I have made a number of reversals of negative information relating to shark shield technology. However, as per WP:NPOV you need to include both the positive and negative information. Hence your comment ..only historical negative information edit I have made was a fictitious refence to people dying wearing Ocean Guardian devices.. There are a number of coronor's reports that have investigated sharks attacks whilst divers have been wearing Sharkshield devices, refer to the details in Ocean Guardian (Shark Shield)#Shark attacks involving Shark Shield Technology. Therefore I do not agree with you deleting ...and divers have been attacked whilst wearing Shark Shield.
Arkpro as a way forward can I suggest we move this discussion to the talk pages of Talk:Shark attack prevention, Talk:Shark barrier and Talk:Ocean Guardian (Shark Shield). When I get time I'll make some specific comments on your edits on these pages. Other Wiki editors can then join these discussions. You can then decide if you wish to amend your edits. Ilenart626 (talk) 12:27, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi Ilenart626, I'm still a little confused with your comment because the edits did not include Ocean Guardian claims or reference Ocean Guardian websites, other than their press release on a new product, which is just that, a press release on a new product which should remain on their page, I'd hardly think they'd fabricated the shark barrier product announcement. Again, the other edit was related to the independent peer reviewed research posted on the Royal Society website.
Lastly I'd like to make an observation, unverified statements like "attacked whilst wearing Shark Shield" do not help build confidence on why consumers and governments should adopt this kind of safety technology, rather than kill sharks and harm the environment etc. which is why I added the new section so it's clear under what circumstances the specific incidents occurred. No safety products or devices offer 100% protection under any circumstance, you can only reduce or mitigate risk, I do not see a list of fatalities under the heading "bike helmet" or "seat belt" so the adding the section "Shark attacks involving shark shield technology" was not a good idea of mine, but better than a broad statement eroding the possibility of these types of products saving lives.
I'm actually not very familiar with Wikipedia editing, it's just a passing interest and it took me nearly four hours to get the posts in question done so I'm happy to leave it and let everyone else chat about the new information I've found. I don't even use social media ha-ha. Thanks and I'll keep watching. Talk:Shark attack prevention, Talk:Shark barrier and Talk:Ocean Guardian (Shark Shield)Ilenart626
Hi Arkpro, understand your position, however note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia with three core principals: neutral point of view, verifiability, and no original research. Therefore we need to be careful we are not promoting a company's product. I am also support promoting safety, however put simply, Wiki's job is to state the facts. And the fact is people have been attacked whilst wearing shark shield, so the products are not perfect. However, note that the Shark Shield technology is given prominence by having its own Wiki page, plus it is the 2nd item in the "Other Protection Methods" on the Shark Prevention page.
I would also encourage you to keep editing. I am the creator of the Shark Attack Prevention page and I would shudder to think how many hours / days I have spent editing that page! Ilenart626 (talk) 17:03, 18 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
