Thank you for your feedback on my submission. I appreciate your comments and understand the need for a more encyclopedic approach.
I would like to clarify the distinction between historical Freedmen and the contemporary American Freedmen. Historically, Freedmen refers to individuals who were freed from slavery following the American Civil War and their descendants during that period. Their identity and experiences were shaped by the immediate post-emancipation context and the challenges of reintegration into society.
In contrast, the term “American Freedmen” today is used to specifically refer to the descendants of these individuals, recognizing the unique heritage and historical experiences that differ from the broader racial categories often applied historically. This distinction is crucial for understanding the evolving identity and social issues faced by these descendants in contemporary times.
I will revise the submission to ensure it reflects these distinctions clearly and adheres to an encyclopedic format. Thank you for pointing this out. I will address the feedback and resubmit the draft for further review. 75.138.230.200 (talk) 01:54, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
