Hello again!

I saw that you've started User:Artstoronto/Sample page, and I saw your message at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Nova_Scotia/Members#Help!_New_page_needed_for_Earl_Bailly.

WP is my hobby, it takes time and interest to learn. Trying to make an acceptable WP-article without doing and learning more basic editing first is... hard. Also, per your comment, WP:PAID and WP:COI is an issue here. Note that myself and other Wikipedians don't care at all if you get a grant or not, but we may be interested to spend time on this article anyway, because for one thing he seems like an amazing guy, and per what I've seen he meets the demands of WP:N. A WP-article about Earl Bailly is supposed to be a summary of published WP:RS about Earl Bailly. If there are news-articles about him being the meth-kingpin of Nova Scotia, that will be mentioned. I don't think there are, but you never know.

So, I'd like to work on the page you started, is that ok? My changes will be drastic, starting with the WP:COPYPASTE issue, we're very careful about copyright around here (and don't forget the Commons issue [1] if you want those pics to remain). I see some sources I can use at [2], and I'm fairly sure I can make this a WP-acceptable article. You should be aware of WP:OWN. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:31, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Thank-you!!!!!!!! I'm not worried about the meth, there are stories of him being a bit of a ladies man but as he was paralyzed from the neck down I doubt anything too controversial will pop up. I've been begging the community for gossip for 15 years and haven't found anything yet. I understand anyone can edit - that's great!! I have a tote at the gallery with news articles and A LOT of photos and artwork which LAGS owns all the rights to, most of it is on that webpage but if there is anything else I can provide I would be thrilled to do so. wikiArtsInfo (talk) 10:32, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Your main challenge with creating a Wikipedia article on Earl Bailly is likely to establish that he is sufficiently 'notable' for a Wikipedia article, see WP:NOTABLE and WP:ARTIST. A strong point in his favour is that one of his works is in the collection of the National Gallery of Canada, and you should mention this.[3] There is a Wikidata entry on him, and I have added his picture and the Commons category to it.[4] Verbcatcher (talk) 17:36, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Earl Bailly

Is now an article. Like everything else around here, it's a work in progress. If you like, you can suggest changes at Talk:Earl Bailly, but because WP:PAID, you should not in general edit it yourself, but see WP:COIADVICE. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:45, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

Hi Artstoronto. I know User:Gråbergs Gråa Sång well from working with him on various topics and I made a couple of suggestions for sources for the Bailly article on its Talk Page. It occurs to me that the now-live article would make a good "did you know" on the mainpage and this drives readership. You are in the best position to nominate the article and choose the "hook" to go with it. Please see the link for details, if you are not familiar with DYK. There is a minor problem: DYK nominators must be autoconfirmed but despite your having an account since 2009, you have not yet made 10 edits on en-Wiki. You need five more. Adding to what Mike Turnbull said, if you decide to give this a go (when you can), go here WP:DYKNOM and start by pressing the blue button. It's rather user-friendly, at least more so than it used to be.

If you are successful (it's not impossible that we will watch and even try to help a little), the Bailly article will be displayed on the Main page for 24h. It tends to increase views a bit: [6].
