Lake Chad article

edit

Hi, I noticed your undo of the deletion on the Lake Chad article by user:newbamboo , and his immediate re-deletion of that section. I have no particular interest in Lake Chad, but I spent a lot of time researching corrections to the links to the papers in that section and am wholly with you in that it should be re-inserted as I am suspicious of newbamboo's motivation for deletion of the section. His original reason involved 'disambiguation' which made no sense, and his subsequent one that the research was 'stale' and the implication that the Chinese wikipedia article was in someway better reeks of a propaganda agenda. I am going to revert his deletion. Hope you concur.Aid1969 (talk) 15:14, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Great thanks for the support in this unfortunate and frankly idiotic instance of someone censoring information with the sole reason being that they didn't like it. I'm coming here a bit late, sorry, and I can see that @Newbamboo's rewrite is still in effect. I believe this should be taken to higher instances of Wikipedia moderators. What are your thoughts ? Hi, I actually finally made an account to raise this issue after years of editing as an IP! 'New users' get a 'mentor' to look after them. Link to discussion with my 'mentor': https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Firefangledfeathers&oldid=1180112370
You can also see my discussion with Newbamboo on my user page.
Apart from the deletion issue my main gripe is him/her inserting a large number of Chinese language references replacing perfectly good English language ones, and that on what is meant to be the English language wikipedia. IMHO Newbamboo is taking Wikipedia policy on foreign language references beyond acceptability. As ever though I am but one, my attempted undo failed and my time is limited. I am with you though if you do want to take this further as I think there are more important principles at stake here than an article on Lake Chad...
