deleted contributions

It is my undertstanding that such deletions of contributions (not just blanking of them, which is reversable) is only done by administrators. I am not an administrator. You might want to ask for help from them. Kukini 22:38, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Notability

edit

I have placed a tag on the article James Gavin (a/k/a "Bali" James), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. I did this because the article seems to be a biographical account about a person, group of people, or band, but it does not indicate how or why he/she/they is/are notable. If you can indicate why James Gavin (a/k/a "Bali" James) is really notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly, and also put a note on Talk:James Gavin (a/k/a "Bali" James). Any admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. You might also want to read our general biography criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. –Sommers (Talk) 05:54, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't be too discouraged by this. What you need to do is demonstrate Gavin's importance, newspaper references etc would be ideal. Failing that, web references would suffice depending on the nature of the web-site. You also need to list all the sources you used in writing the article in a references section at the bottom. This allows other users to verify the information in the article. It's a bit of a fiddle, but it should improve the quality of the article and convince other users not to delete. Funnily enough if you had written a short article about a Pokemon character you wouldn't face any of these problems. Wikipedia users apply different standards to different types of articles, unfortunately.Leithp 10:56, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Baird Jones

edit

A tag has been placed on Baird Jones requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JohnCD (talk) 13:42, 2 March 2008 (UTC) Reply

Hello, Asingleton-green. You have new messages at JohnCD's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
If you really feel the guy was notable, go ahead and create a new article about him, taking into account the advice offered here by other editors, especially with regard to documenting your statements with citations to reliable sources, to permit the verification of the subject's notability. (The little sketch you posted higher on this page is not yet there, but seems to be a first approach.) --Orange Mike | Talk 20:19, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Underground, New York City moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, The Underground, New York City, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. CommanderWaterford (talk) 09:09, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Can you help me link the article to sources? There are dozens in major local media, and there are photographs of the interior on Pinterest, too, but I don’t know how to connect all of that. Asingleton-green (talk) 03:42, 17 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Notice of noticeboard discussion

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. SCP-053 (talk) 08:09, 10 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • I appear to have erroneously filed that report as the nightclub you are editing has closed, meaning that you are not promoting it. SCP-053 (talk) 21:13, 10 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
@SCP-053: I said that you owed this editor an apology, not just a retraction. Apologize.
@Asingleton-green: Please forgive this inconvenience. You've done nothing wrong. I can't tell you for sure whether your draft will be accepted for articlespace, but I can tell that you are passionate about this topic, and are a quick learner when it comes to editing. Wikipedia is lucky to have you as an editor, and I hope that this experience doesn't scare you away. Might I suggest you check out Category:Nightclubs in Manhattan? There's lots of pages in there that could use improvement. -- Tamzin (they/she) | o toki tawa mi. 21:39, 10 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
