May 2024
editHello Aston3421. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Aston3421. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Aston3421|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 09:00, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Dear @331dot
- I do not get any compensation of any kind for writing or editing this article wether direct or indirect. I will never be paid by any organisation for my contribution this article.
- Thank you for your contribution to this website A.Atig (talk) 09:05, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- The reason that I ask is that you claim that you took this very professional looking image of Mr. Koukjian, and he clearly posed for you. What is your connection with him? 331dot (talk) 09:08, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- It is myself in this article and it is a self portrait. Furthermore the text was made referencing third party sources and in a neutral tone. I derive no financial benefit nor am I self promoting by writing this article. A.Atig (talk) 09:14, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- First, you need to settle on a single account to use or otherwise explain your relationship with this account. The A.Atig account has never edited the draft, only this account(Aston3421) has.
- I'm not sure that you are aware of the autobiography policy; writing about yourself is highly discouraged, though it is not absolutely forbidden.
- The draft as it is now would probably need some work in order to be accepted- it says that you are known for the work you do and have garnered attention but don't expand on that- who has given you attention or says that your work is notable, and what do they say about it? You don't need to tell me here, but that's what needs to be in the article. 331dot (talk) 09:22, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Concerning the usernames, It is my fault I apologise as I have one for chrome browser and one for Opera browser. I will make sure to stick to one in the future.
- Thank you for remind me the rules on autobiography, I made sure to stick to the sources and write in a neutral tone. I will make sure it stays this way
- I will expand a bit more on the draft, I kept it brief in order to not go off topic or ramble. The notability comes from having sculpture in public that was chose by cultural comissions, Recognition through various newspapers that work independently such as Architectural digest, Sannen anzeiger, tribune..
- If it is ok with you I can continue contributing to the article. If possible also could you help me expand it?
- Thank you A.Atig (talk) 09:29, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- If you want to use one account for each browser, that is fine as long as you tell people that's what you are doing(like with a statement on your user page) especially if you don't separate what each account edits about.
- You can continue to work on the draft as long as you use the submission process(which you are). Unfortunately my time constraints don't permit me to work on the draft with you. 331dot (talk) 09:35, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- What is your relationship with Pierre Koukjian, whom you also took an image of? 331dot (talk) 09:26, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- He is my father. I did not take this picture, it is a publicly available one Aston3421 (talk) 09:34, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. With regards to the image of your father, if you didn't personally take it, you cannot claim that it is your own personal work(as you currently are unintentionally, I gather). That an image is publicly available does not necessarily mean that it has a copyright compatible with Wikipedia's, which allows for reuse for any purpose with attribution. If the source of the image allows for such reuse, you need to go to Commons and work to change the copyright information to show that. If it doesn't allow for such reuse, you will need to request deletion of the image. 331dot (talk) 09:39, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Both user pages for the 2 username have been update with a declaration and the image of Pierre Koukjian has been tagged for speedy deletion as well as removed from his Wikipedia entry. I will replace with one of my own image in the near future.
- If there is anything else I can do let me know Aston3421 (talk) 09:48, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
