Orphaned non-free media

Thanks for uploading Image:Anime central logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:50, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Computer virus

More than just one error. From my point of view, it was much easier to fix by clicking "undo" than removing the several problems individually, or fixing them. I knew that anyone committed to the edits would come back and do them properly, even though I saw little value in the links provided. TheNameWithNoMan (talk) 11:38, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

All those 'About Me' Thingummyjigs on your main user page.

How do you add them? My page looks rather bland......--KageTora (talk) 05:29, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

They are called userboxes and there is a wide range available (see the gallery section), or you can make your own. If you would like to, feel free to copy the markup from my userpage to get yourself started. Astronaut (talk) 15:39, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Not a case of vandalism

Dear Astronaut, nice to meet you. The article Y Chromossomal Aaron was re-edit by me and the group with new informations. I worked with the group and we added the final and new version. Thanks for keeping a eye on the article. Best Regards - Anatole Klyosov: Chief Professional Scientist, Patents and publications (2003-2008). Professor of Biochemistry at Harvard University (Cambridge, MA), Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA),Institute of Biochemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow), Consulting Chief Scientist and Chief Scientist for Pro-Pharmaceuticals (2000-2008); Professor and Head, Carbohydrate Research Laboratory, World Academy of Science (Member, since 1989),USSR National Prize in Science , Gold Medal, the USSR National Achievement. --Scienceprogenetic (talk) 03:39, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Help with Jheald

Dear Astronaut. I need you help! For the last two years Jheald has been adding material on the article based on original research. The article is full of false information. Its about time to change the article. Regards- Anatole —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scienceprogenetic (talkcontribs) 10:47, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

New Coment. Dear Astronaut. Jheald added information on the article that has no endorsements at all. As he said: "The designation J2a1k is from the ISOGG official current tree, which Wikipedia considers a reliable external source". Dear Astronaut, pay attention please, ISOGG said clearly on their main page website that "The Working Draft of the Y Chromosome Tree Below J-M304 does not represent an endorsement by ISOGG”.

http://www.isogg.org/tree/index.html

Jheald is not allowing Mr Anatole Klyosov, to add at least one new paragraph in the article, because he uses theories that has no endorsements at all. Please, helps us add at least one new paragraph there:

Unpublished scientific paper removed Astronaut (talk) 02:58, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Can Jheald use "J2a1k from the ISOGG"? Again, ISOGG has not endorsed such thing at all. Never, any official publication has mention this "J2a1k" or "L24" and no one has endorsed such thing. Only this person called Jheald. I need your help to remove this information on the article, and to allow us to add the new paragraph above. Thank you very much!

Regards. --Chris Cohen (talk) 20:26, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Astronaut. Here is what I need you to consider.

Unpublished scientific paper removed Astronaut (talk) 03:02, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

This whole paragraph above is currently on the main article Y-chromosomal Aaron, and is all based on inconclusive information, that has no endorsements by ISOGG. He said that "The designation J2a1k is from the ISOGG official current tree, which Wikipedia considers a reliable external source". This "reliable external source" never endorsed "J2a1k" "L24". This person called Jheald, formulated this theory on his or her account, and added on the article. Jheald is trying to manipulate original research into the article. (see WP policy on [[WP:NOR|no original research). (see WP policy on reliable sources); Jheald used ISOGG as reliable source, but ISOGG did no endorsed the information that he is using in the main article. There is no official publication with this information, no sources, no endorsments, no nothing that can support this paragraph above. What is wrong with this Jheald? Wikipedias readers are not supposed to read this information at all. This is an absurd. I need your help urgent. Help remove whole paragraph, once for all, please! Regards --Chris Cohen (talk) 20:44, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

You seem to have mistaken me for a geneticist. Astronaut (talk) 03:02, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

I understand that you are not familiar with this topic, however I did think that you could verify the false "reliable source" that Jhead is using on the article. Can you at least verify the false "reliable source" ? Thanks --Chris Cohen (talk) 04:01, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

...quote removed... So we pretend to add this new section "Latest developments" on the article, because Scienceprogenetic has plenty references and reliable sources. Thanks for your neutral position. Thanks --Chris Cohen (talk) 04:21, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Agree. Congratulations for your brilhant mind and neutral position. ...quote removed... I pretend to help Scientifprogenetic add a new section that can be called “Latest Developments on J2 Cohanim”--Chris Cohen (talk) 05:10, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Dear Astrounaut. Jheald made himself a new editing in the article Y chromossomal Aaron, insisting with pseudo-reliable sources. He gave a lot of excuses like : "an article should cover what 'these people' are saying, even if it then goes on to critique or qualify it". Again, if he wants to keep this section that´s fine. But helps us by letting Scienceprogenetic insert a new section there too. Please, take a look at the discussion page. Thanks --Chris Cohen (talk) 00:04, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Dear Astronaut. Jheal reverted your decisions. There's no need to flag every statement as OR if the section is flagged. Please, can you revert it? Who can stop Jheald? Thanks.--Scienceprogenetic (talk) 12:28, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

New Comment: Astrounaut. I did improve the section with more reliable sources now with the help of Chris Cohen. Please, take a look at it (also discussion page). Jheald did flag every statement as OR (the whole section is already flagged), as a clear indication that he or she is not respecting editor`s decision and others point of view in any circustance. This is a clear sinal of manipulation. Please, your help is very important. Thank you. --Scienceprogenetic (talk) 15:01, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Niklas Engelin

I removed the speedy request from this page as being a member of two notable bands is an indication that they may be notable. According to the A7 criterion "the criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source". In this case there is a credible claim of significance as they are a member of two notable bands, especially bearing in mind that this "is a lower standard than notability". Your edit log comment of "... but you will need references to assert notability and for verification" is completely irrelevant because as stated lack of sources is not a reason to A7 speedy. The article will probably fail prod or AfD without sources but it can pass speedy with no sources at all.

Additionally I believe you were wrong to re-add the speedy tag as according to Wikipedia deletion policy "anyone except a page's creator may contest the speedy deletion of a page by removing the deletion notice from the page." Additionally "if there is a dispute over whether a page meets the criteria, the issue is typically taken to deletion discussions." Removal of a speedy, especially with a reason given in the edit log, is generally consided to be such a dispute and so would normally be prodded or taken to AfD. Dpmuk (talk) 13:26, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry. I had been fixing vandalism at the time and this one seemed to fit the profile at the time, but on reflection I think I was a little over eager there. The addition of {{notability}} and {{unreferenced}} tags by user:TheJazzDalek is a better way of dealing with the article's issues. Perhaps I should go back and read the policy more carefully :-) Astronaut (talk) 13:33, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Changes to Template:Location map USA New York

Hello Astronaut! I'm writing regarding Template:Location map USA New York, which you last edited on March 3 2009. I've noticed that the pushpin locations for numerous places don't seem to match up with the coordinates being entered. A most obvious example is Ravena, New York, which in actuality is located in south-eastern Albany County, but instead appears to be further southeast and outside the county. I didn't want to make any changes to the parameters without first inquiring as to what prompted you to make your changes. Thanks! --JBC3 (talk) 01:08, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

I modified the southern boundary of this map because, for several towns in NY state that are close to the NY/PA border, the pushpin appeared to be in PA. Moving the boundary a little further south, brought the pushpins pretty much into NY. I tried to check that the changes hadn't affected the pushpins for other towns too much, but I had limited time and there are a lot of towns. Some of the affected towns were Waverly, Ashland, and Carroll. Also check out the talk page for Waverly for a brief discussion. Astronaut (talk) 18:59, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy taggings on talk pages

Hi there Astronaut. I left you a reply on my talk page. But about something else: You should avoid adding your signature when adding speedy tags, even on talk pages. Regards SoWhy 16:18, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Patrolling article talk

I note that you've been doing a lot of work going through article talk pages and blanking the utter stupidities and vandalism. This is helpful; thank you. However, it would be even more helpful if you would use the patrol feature. If a page is good, mark it as 'patrolled'; if it has crap, then leave it unpatrolled and I'll delete it within a few days.

Thanks. DS (talk) 17:32, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

I don't get it. I've never seen the "[Mark this page as patrolled]" link in the bottom right corner of the page or anywhere else. Do I need to change my preferences or add something to my monobook.js to enable it? Astronaut (talk) 19:29, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, you have to go in through special:Newpages - and select the 'talk' namespace. DS (talk) 03:01, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Your Opinion Needed........

Your opinion is need for consensus, as to whether some new sections should be added to the article or not. While this is currently a hot issue on Dubai's talk page, me and User:AreJay are more or less on a deadlock on this issues of adding these new section, namely ...

  • Entertainment (Dubai is certainly a hub for concerts, musical shows, shopping festivals, bustling cinema's showing Bollywood and Hollywood's latest films and much more for the entertainment in Dubai, after its the sources of entertainment that attracts tourists to Dubai, or what attracts them, OIL ? )
  • Sports (Dubai is famous for hosting games from tennis championships to cricket from rugby to horse races that earn dubai alot of money and and it often got flooded by sports lovers)

  • Architecture (with sub-headings Skyline or cityscape and Parks , Its not any thing which is not famous, Dubai, no doubt have one of the most magnificent and fastest growing skyline in world, it have Architecture that are no doubt modern wonders of the world, the article should have its section, with main link to their main articles, after all can any one imagine the article of alexander the great with out his splendid conquests ?, so why Dubai with out its crown ?)

  • Tourism (Dubai is 8th most visited city in the world, and have several tourist attractions and events that attracts million of visitors every years, while all other most visited cities like Newyork, London, Bangkok have this section, Dubai's article is deprived of it, a section must be introduced by the heading tourism and their a brief introduction must be given with a main link to Tourism in Dubai. )

To give a summary of mine and User:Arejay's discussion, let me tell you that the above headings are suggested by me and they are also included in several feature article in wikipedia like....

These headings are strongly opposed by User:Arejay and thus we had a deadlock, a third opinion is needed about whether these headings should be added or not. I dont know why some one who is honest with Dubai's article can oppose addition of such an important section. To me its like you are snatching a crown from Dubai, one of the most famous cities in the world, the article really dont pay a due coverage to dubai, and rather seem to me an article of any ordinary city in Persian gulf !
