Great job in explaining GRASS to the 'technically'-inclined Wikipedians. More generally, I'm interested in working on the GIS-related articles and perhaps guides to data sources and how-tos (maybe on Wikibooks?). I'm fortunate to be using ArcGIS, but if there's anything I can do to help explain the fundamentals (not necessarily GRASS-specific), let me know. ---Aude 04:18, 24 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback. I'm writing it with the intended audience of my past self who was utterly confused. I would really like to see a list of data sources on Wikibooks somewhere, that sounds really useful. Is the list on freegis.org really comprehensive? silsor 04:33, 24 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Hi, see the http://grass.itc.it site for a new native winGRASS version, new user interface etc (http://grass.itc.it/grass61/screenshots/index.php). Enjoy.

Hey, thanks

edit

I'm another typical "clueless new user" who wants to be able to create my own maps. I have some shapefiles of administrative units, roads, and topological curves that I downloaded and a ton of database data to put nifty colors into them. However, I need help at an even earlier level than your tutorial: how the heck do I create a location? I've tried about 5 times, and I can never get any of my shapefiles to import.--190.56.5.77 21:45, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

nevermind, I found http://grass.itc.it/gdp/grass5tutor/HTML_en/c255.html... now if I could just find the brackets in my latam unix keyboard, in windows I just switch keymaps. --190.56.5.77 22:51, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
