Hi there.
If you are really Attila the Stockbroker then I'd like to ask you to be careful when editing the article about yourself. Don't worry. You have not done anything wrong. The extra instruments you added are fine. It is just that writing about yourself on Wikipedia can very easily go wrong so I thought I should warn you in advance of any problems. Nobody finds it easy to write objectively about themselves and it is easy to get embroiled in conflict of interest problems, even without meaning to. If you stick to completely uncontroversial minor factual additions and the removal of any unambiguous vandalism then it should be OK. Please have a look at WP:COI which explains more about this. Maybe there are other some articles you are interested in editing?
If you are not really Attila the Stockbroker then it might be wise to change your username as your current one strongly implies that you are or claim to be him. This will require the Administrators to help to change. Alternatively, as you only have one edit and, you can just make a new account with a different name. Making a new account is allowed so long as you stop using the old one. That is the easier option. Instructions and details are here: WP:RENAME.
I'm sorry if it seems like you made just one perfectly harmless small edit and now you have me reading you rules and telling you off. It isn't like that. You have not done anything wrong. I just want to help you avoid any trouble. --DanielRigal (talk) 13:27, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Help me!

Please help me with... I have had a message from DanielRigal, an admin, and I want to talk back to him, but I don't know how to do it. (I'm sorry, I find working out new stuff online very hard, i plod through..please reply as though you were talking to a four year old...) Or maybe I can just talk to you! I have edited my page Attila the Stockbroker. I'd like to put a better photo up there, can't work out how to do it, and whether it's Ok to put up a photo a friend took as long as I ask permission. I'd also really like the 'additional citations' bit removed now, and can't work out how to do that either.
Thanks. John Baine. Attilathestockbroker (talk) 11:13, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
- You can get DanielRigal's attention by adding the code
{{ping|DanielRigal}}
in a message on this page - as long as you sign the message with four tildes (~~~~
), he'll then get a notification to come here and see your message. You can "ping" other users in a similar way; for example,{{ping|Yunshui}}
will get my attention. - Photo licencing on Wikipedia is pretty complicated. If your friend took the photograph, then we'll need him to release it under a suitable free licence. The easiest way to do this is to have him create his own account and then ask him to use the File Upload Wizard, which makes the process pretty. He'll have to do it himself, though; you can't release it for him. If for some reason that's not possible, check out DCM for alternatives. Yunshui 雲水 13:49, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hi! To begin, @DanielRigal: is not an administrator, per the user box on his page. Minor clarification there. To address your questions, if he posted on your page, it is likely that he has it watchlisted and would see any response that you may post to his comment(s). If not, you may ping him using {{yo|DanielRigal}}, {{ping|DanielRigal}}, or {{U|DanielRigal}}. Those tags, as part of your message, will send a notification to him and he'll be along at some point. His comment above was on point - it is not recommended that those individuals that are both Wikipedia users and subjects of Wikipedia articles edit articles about themselves. It is usually best to use the article's talk page and make an edit request there, being sure to make the request in the form of "In place of (X), please put (Y)". The additional citations tag is one of maintenance and can be addressed by any editor that feels the concerns have been taken care of. StrikerforceTalk 13:54, 7 September 2018 (UTC)

Welcome!
editHello, Attilathestockbroker, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Attila the Stockbroker, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms our use and policy on paid editing.

Editing this entry
edit@DanielRigal: I see nearly everything I added has been taken off. Surprised in a way because it is no more or less 'verifiable' than other stuff on here really. I'm not going to do any further editing except to add instruments and releases, and although I am not happy with it, that photo will just have to stay there. I'm sorry i didn't follow the guidelines. I have spent my whole life not following them :) Cheers John Attilathestockbroker (talk) 08:51, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- Your best bet is to use the article's talk page to make suggestions. Some will probably be accepted and some won't. At least that saves a lot of effort making edits that get removed.
- Did you manage to get a picture uploaded or for somebody to upload one for you? The current one is not good so I think any decent alternative will be OK so long as the image licence is OK. I know copyright licensing can be a faff but it is the same system that protects you from some little sod selling bootleg CDs of your albums and pretending that they are his.
- BTW, did you know that there is an old picture of you on the Welsh Wikipedia article here? Maybe we can use that lower down the article to line up with the 1980s stuff. (Don't worry. It isn't going to get put at the top of the article.) --DanielRigal (talk) 18:13, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
Cheers Daniel
editVery busy re photo. Don't want an old one, don't mind not having one at all, too busy to faff around with the licence, hate the one that's there, could you just take that one off? I don't know how to and maybe am not allowed! I think I'll just leave the page as it is, it says the basics, if the stuff I put up there isn't acceptable I don't really understand why the rest was, it's equally true and could have been equally false. So I'll just leave it as it is apart from factual stuff like instruments! If it's allowed, pls can you put my facebook page up next to the website https://www.facebook.com/attilathestockbroker
Cheers!
Entry in Football support
editI am linking 2 pieces in the Football support section, hope they are allowed. On 1 August 17 2016 just before the start of Brighton's debut in the Premier League, he appeared in a Guardian documentary 'From nowhere to the Premier League' about the fans' role in the club's survival and resurgence https://www.theguardian.com/football/video/2017/aug/01/brighton-hove-albion-a-journey-from-nowhere-to-the-premier-league-video On 12 August his poem on that theme, 'From Hereford To Here'http://sport.bt.com/video/brighton-from-hereford-to-here-91364203272187 was broadcast by BT Sport immediately before the coverage of their first game against Man City.

HI Daniel
editI now have a great photo uploaded by a lovely woman from a gig last weekend. Could you upload it for me? I have no idea how to do it. Barnstormer 1649 performing at Calstock Hall on 14th September 2018. L-R: Tim O'Tay, Attila the Stockbroker, Cookie, M.M.McGhee.

- I have put it in with a suitable caption. I agree that it looks a lot better that the one with the magenta background. I also did some very minor tidying on the article. --DanielRigal (talk) 23:27, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
Cheers Daniel
editIf appropriate please add link to the mini doc Attilathestockbroker (talk) 10:23, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
- It is still there. I moved it down to the External Links section. We need an independent reference for it in the body of the article. I've added a couple. One has enough detail to support the description in the article and other proves that it was shown in public, which should discourage anybody from removing it thinking that it is just a YouTube video. --DanielRigal (talk) 12:14, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
Daniel, I have added a but of info on the Abiezer Coppe Page, stating that I have a song about him on the new album with my band. I hope this isOK. Attilathestockbroker (talk) 18:09, 23 September 2018 (UTC)
John why?
editI had to do a cleanup of your “self” article because I found a lot of self-proclaimed things on there. Cheers! Ãli999YT (talk) 09:11, 24 October 2019 (UTC)
- Don't worry about this person: they're already blocked for, essentially, dickishness. Drmies (talk) 17:26, 24 October 2019 (UTC)
