Tsitsutl

edit

I've removed your speculative WP:Original research from Tsitsutl Peak, as despite the similarity of phonemes and apparent homonymy this is a Carrier name and in Carrier territory, and there are no Salishan names in this area, and other cites clearly state it's in the "local aboriginal language" (Carrier in this case, though the other location language it Tsilhqot'in, which is also Athapaskan and not Salishan). There's another Tsitsutl summit, up in the Omineca, Tsitsutl Mountain, and a nearby creek of the same name. Search BCGNIS for "Tsitsutl" and you'll find all three items; none are in Salishan territory.Skookum1 (talk) 17:54, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

The Athapaskan specialist in the Wikipedia community is User:Billposer at the Yinka Dene Language Institute, whom you can try asking if you still think the name should somehow relate to the double-headed serpent; he doesn't often respond to requests but may in this case.Skookum1 (talk) 17:56, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
