Request for clarification on reverting edits
editCAPTAIN RAJU I see you reverted my edit of the first graph of the TechSoup Global page and listed “multiple issues” as the reason. As a new-to-Wikipedia editor, one who has disclosed a COI both on the talk page and on my user page, I would appreciate a fuller explanation of those issues and how they can be addressed. I understand that I accidentally removed the banner and info box; that was not my intention. What other missteps did I make? I posted my intent to edit the page and requested feedback on the Talk page April 29, but received none. I’d be grateful for your feedback. Thank you!Bajeckabean (talk) 23:46, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
Paid contributions to TechSoup Global
editThanks for the note you left me. I had dropped TechSoup Global from my watchlist so I hadn't noticed the changes you've been making.
So here's the thing. I appreciate you complying with our paid contribution disclosure policy by disclosing your employment on your user page, but you also say your goal is to abide by Wikipedia's COI guidelines to the best of your ability. Unfortunately for you and Techsoup, this means you should never edit the TechSoup article directly as you've been doing for over a month. I'm also concerned that the article was already edited by another COI editor and has had a promotional tone for a long time. Your employer seems to have a pattern of trying to promote itself on Wikipedia, which is strictly forbidden.
I'll make an effort to review your changes. In the meantime, please restrict your editing to the talk page and don't make any more changes to the article itself. If you'd like to suggest changes, you can message me, or better yet you can use the {{request edit}} template, which is made for exactly this purpose. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 23:15, 10 June 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response, Dr. Fleishman. I look forward to hearing more from you as you review the updates so far. I appreciate your guidance. --Bajeckabean (talk) 22:06, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Bajeckabean
- Hi Becky. I've reviewed the page and made some further changes. Mainly, there was still some remaining marketing-speak. If you're interested, the next step to bring the article into compliance with Wikipedia policies and guidelines is to find reliable sources (preferably independent secondary ones) that support the describe TechSoup's programs. If you have such sources, please provide them at Talk:TechSoup Global and I or someone else will add them to the article. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 23:47, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
