TemplateParametersTool: interwikis

Hi! Have you thought about implementing support for TemplateParametersTool for Wikipedias of other languages? That would be super useful, as I haven't meet such useful similar tools anywhere else when it comes to infoboxes. This may be quite resource-intensive, so to avoid that, it could be made to work at least via custom requests of specific templates via adjusting link or so. Solidest (talk) 14:48, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

@Solidest: I am sure it would be useful, unfortunately the current workflow is very labor intensive manually downloading files, running programs, etc. --Bamyers99 (talk) 15:28, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
Eh, too bad. Hopefully this will be brought to automation one day, maybe even in some other form. Solidest (talk) 15:44, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

Incorrect classes on Cleanup listing

Hi Bamyers99! Yesterday I spent a lot of time working through the issues on https://bambots.brucemyers.com/cwb/bycat/The_Beatles.html and I noticed some articles listed as "Redirect" class that are not redirects, such as Flowers in the Dirt. Is that something you could please fix for future runs? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 22:50, 17 February 2022 (UTC)

@GoingBatty: Fixed. There was a letter-case sensitivity issue that was brought to light by alternate letter-case redirects. The Beatles list has been regenerated. --Bamyers99 (talk) 00:46, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks! I see that https://bambots.brucemyers.com/cwb/alpha/The_Beatles.html was regenerated, and there are no redirects on that list. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 01:53, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

Where to put Instructions?

I am not sure if this is the right place - if not, please let me know and I will move on. I'm trying to make WikiProject Skepticism more accessible, starting by adding instructions to the pages and the lists - what they are, and how the information can be used. The starting point is the New Articles list at User:AlexNewArtBot/SkepticismSearchResult. Which brings me to the issue - I get the impression that the whole page is generated by a bot (either AlexNewArtBot or InceptionBot I think), so it is not clear where the instructions can be added. This is the page linked to for "Questions and feedback" so I hope you can point me in the right direction - how can we add instructions so that people can get more use out of these lists?--Gronk Oz (talk) 12:17, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

@Gronk Oz: InceptionBot updates the new article lists. It doesn't have an option for user defined text. Other projects put instructions on the WikiProject page. Example: Wikipedia:WikiProject Sociology#New articles. --Bamyers99 (talk) 14:33, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Brilliant, that is exactly what I need to know. Thank you.   --Gronk Oz (talk) 22:57, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

Thomas Flournoy (general)

How could this article end up under User:AlexNewArtBot/SpeculativeFictionSearchResult? Its not supposed to be fiction, least of all speculative fiction, but history. Creuzbourg (talk) 21:23, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

@Creuzbourg: The word 'alienated' was matched in the lead per SpeculativeFiction/log which matched any word starting with 'alien'. I have updated the SpeculativeFiction rules to exclude 'alienated' and reduce the score if a word starting with 'alien' is found. --Bamyers99 (talk) 21:48, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

I have found the list User:DataflowBot/output/Popular low quality articles (id-2) very useful in gauging what articles could benefit the most from edits. I found the link to the page from Wikipedia:Task Center. Thank you for maintaining the bot.

Do you think the bot could be expanded to have a slightly longer list, or is there some technical limitation surrounding that? I ask because I have found most of the articles I can contribute to are in the #80-#115 range. Darcyisverycute (talk) 18:47, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

@Darcyisverycute: It only looks for low quality articles in User:HostBot/Top_1000_report. It is not limiting the list of low quality articles. It used to look at User:West.andrew.g/Popular_pages, but that page is no longer maintained. --Bamyers99 (talk) 19:15, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

User:InceptionBot

Hi! It seems that InceptionBot has stopped working on May 13, there were no updates yesterday per [48]. Regards, Jovanmilic97 (talk) 09:50, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

@Jovanmilic97: Thanks for the notice. This was possibly caused by maintenance on the Toolforge server. I have reloaded the job schedules. --Bamyers99 (talk) 13:08, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

CWB missing class/importance

Any ideas why User:CleanupWorklistBot is missing the class/importance for the College Basketball project? I poked around the category test tool and it seems to be set up correctly on the master list, yet hasn't ever supplied them since I first found it. As someone who's been making extensive use of the tool (and thanks very much for it, by the way), would be a handy way of considering what to target. Thanks! Buttons to Push Buttons (talk | contribs) 01:43, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

@Buttons to Push Buttons: A couple of years ago CleanupWorklistBot switched from using categories to using an assessment database for determining class and importance. I didn't take into account projects with a category override like "WikiProject_College_Basketball => college_basketball". This has been fixed and assessments should appear in next Tuesdays run. --Bamyers99 (talk) 14:45, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
Ahh, I see! Well, thanks very much, appreciate it :) Buttons to Push Buttons (talk | contribs) 15:06, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

Punctuation in broken section anchors

Good work on Wikipedia:Database reports/Broken section anchors, I've been fixing some of them whilst the current crazy WP:REPLAG is stopping me doing other things. <g> One thing, it seems to be identifying working redirects as broken if the target section/anchor contains an apostrophe (and I think a hyphen also) - examples include If it ain't broke, don't fix it, T'Pau (Star Trek) and V'ger. I don't know if that's because you're being purist about them being urlencoded, but in practice they work, so should probably not go in the report? Cheers. Le Deluge (talk) 08:02, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

@Le Deluge: Thanks for the bug report. I have added an additional check for apostrophe (single quote). I did not find any hyphen mis-reports. The hyphens I did find had been fixed by someone else because the anchor had changed. --Bamyers99 (talk) 17:41, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
